I own 11 detectors. 5 are Garrett’s (2 Ace 250s and 3 ATPros. All 3 have a 5x8 coil.). I have a Tesoro and 5 Minelabs. My ATPs are all 5-6 years old and well used. I hunt nearly every day 3-5 hours or more. I use those ATPs 95% of the time . I have found some wonderful finds. I’ve been Vaughn Garrett’s Find Of The Month twice, I’ve been published in a number of magazines in the US, UK and Scotland and a local news station did a segment on me. I agree the ATP is the best machine I’ve ever used.

Nice vid. I recently found a 0.5 gram 10K earring with my ATP that came in at 38-39. One thing you didn't show was foil. It comes up as 39-42 and always has a very slight iron tone along with the mid-tone. Also gold never rings a high tone like Mike said. If his does he should send it in for repair I have 50 videos now over the last two years and I don't think those $1500.00 and up machines can find much more than the AT Pro does. (Much less being waterproof) Good luck and HH!

Still loving the AT Pro 4 years later and strongly believe there is no better or more versatile land AND water detector (in its price range). My units have not been babied, I have put them thru some abuse and still work great! I think it may be time to do another AT Pro video with the 2 other coils I have the 5X8 and the Super Sniper.

Maybe it would be worth mentioning that there is difference between the standard and pro mode. Pro mode can also help recognizing bottle caps forexample. If u get a good high tone on standard mode. u can double check that with pro mode and if its still a clean high tone its a coin or mostly a good target but if it shows on pro mode a sound of low-high-low tone it probably a bad bottlecap :)

Thank you for posting this video, great job!.for the small 14k ear ring did it also throw of the depth reading or were you actually that far above it? I am trying to help a young woman find a small sterling promise ring that was only lost a day ago, so naturally I would have thought it would be right on top of the grass. After testing at 4 inches in the ground with some larger silver rings I found my depth reading was deeper by an inch or two. This is why i am asking.

There are going to be fanboys and haters out there disagree but the AT-Pro machines have found me more gold then any other machine. Scary! I have been hunting with the AT Pro for 6 years now and have found tons of silver items. Not as much gold. Every solid signal I have dug in the 40's has always been trash. So I have been ignoring those targets for years and only digging solid sounding targets over 50. Based on your vid looks like I have left some gold in the ground

Most useful video I've watched thus far! Thanks. So, if you are searching in the sand/beach, how many notches down would you go..For example, the gold ear ring that was reading 38-39...What do you think that would read buried in the sand? Dirt? Thanks a bunch. Good luck hunting!
@MiTreasureHunter7 жыл бұрын
Buried in sand here in Michigan, at a reasonable depth of 1 to 4 or 5 inches the numbers are going to stay nearly identical. Now in other areas where there is high mineralization then I can not say because I have never tested in that type of situation.

Also, do you always run on "Pro Zero" mode, sensitivity down "4 notches" (judging from the tutorial you did). Any tips for best spots on beach to search? I have been by shoreline, but Machine will go crazy with all the shells buried and mineralization effects and just digging up shells sometimes it seems (Note: "ground balanced" as well following the instructional video from Garrett At Pro on how to ground balance). Any suggestions to avoid that problem? Also, do you ever get wrong or false reads on your At Pro and then dig up NOTHING, not even junk (sadly enough lol)? Also, how accurate is the reader and how often when things are buried in sand/Soil? Will it read a number a couple times and then dissapear? That happens often..I'll have a ring between the 50-60 range, get excited and then can't get a read in the exact spot moments later.. Am I doing something wrong or is that "Standard" when searching that sometimes you just get false reads ? Quite annoying and time consuming, kind of like this "Comment" lol. Sorry, but just needed an experts advice.
@MiTreasureHunter7 жыл бұрын
Yes I always run in Pro Zero, sensitivity either 4 or 5. My hunting environment is a lot more forgiving, we do not have the mineralization in Michigan. I hunt the towel line after people start leaving and in the water I study where most people are hanging out and concentrate in that area.

There was a distinction form the pull tab compared to the numbers given from the plat. and gold, but still it would make me think twice rather to dig or not! Only because the numbers were so close! Ahrrr.. I'm deciding if I should dig right now and I don't even have a detector in my hand! :)
@MiTreasureHunter11 жыл бұрын
@ Mike Denton...I appreciate your comments but I respectfully disagree about ANY gold showing up in the 80's on the AT-PRO. Yes in the ground the numbers can show differently....but Gold absolutely NEVER reads that high on the AT-PRO. 80's on the ATP is silver, clad coins, and aluminum. I will gladly bury all my gold rings and film it to prove it. I have run the ATP since it was released and have mastered it. Take care and happy hunting.

I am a late comer to this world of MD. I just purchased an AT pro and am learning the machine. One thing that really puzzles me is; why, when a target is shallow, does it show a depth of 4-6"? I have dug deeper holes when I didn't need to. Is it because of the shape of the target, like bent up tin vs a solid target like a coin?

Numbers can change according the type and depth of soil the target is in. One freshwater sand beaches the numbers seem to stay accurate to the air test to a minimum of 4 inches. GL HH.

I would like to know why my AT Pro will find rings but will not detect gold chains. There's a million videos doing tests with rings. No one tests chains.
@MiTreasureHunter7 жыл бұрын
jeremy74pow Hardly any metal detectors on the market can detect fine gold necklaces/chains. People who do find one either it's a heavy link chain, it was balled up tight thus creating a larger target, the necklace has a large clasp, or most commonly they are detecting a charm or pendant that is on the chain. You don't see videos about it because detectors are just plain bad at detecting them. I have tested several from At-Pro, to CTX 3030, to my XP Deus and all fail. The Deus almost hits it but in the ground no way it would see it. Those who might disagree I say prove it by making a video clearly demonstrating your detector and use several size and style chains - no pendants or charms on the chain.
@jeremy74pow7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, that's what I was wondering, if other detectors could pick them up. We tried three different detector, AT Pro, Garret 250, and a whites, none of those picked up the chain even when bunched up. And like you said the only time I have found chain was when there was something on it. I actually find more gold a silver ripping apart old dryers than I do detecting. BTW, great video. I was doing the same thing the other day and was wondering what platinum would read cause I haven't found one with the AT Pro yet. Thanks again.

Ok first off awesome video really appreciate this, ok now I now what things come up as I have been passing signals like this left and right because I usually just dig junk but a guy stopped me while I was going hunting yesterday and he threw his ring on the ground and it hit 53 and it looked gold ok I let a friend use my machine well he wasn't a friend at the time this is how we met he dug a gold ring and I didn't pay attention but he said it was hitting 80s

Also, seems rather counter to human tendancy to assign silver and quarters the high pitch tone, Garrett should have designed the 50-60 with the higher pitch tone lol
