I really miss the South Africa of Mbeki as president, Tito as Governor, Trevor as finance minister, we had a growing economy and there was accountability, era of Scorpions etc. We had leadership, countries like Spain are still recovering today from th 2008 global financial crisis. SA was one of the few countries that responded better to the crises.

Cde Thabo Mvunyelwa Mbeki one of the best President this country has produced. He is a humanbeing just like all of us as we not perfect he made his fair chance of mistakes just like all of us because he is a humanbeing. In as much as we passionate to highlight his wrong deeds we must also recognise his good deeds which I think they more than those wrong ones. In that 2008 the whole globe was on economic meltdown but one of those huge car brands from Germany came in invest in South Africa because of the sound economic policies by President Thabo Mbeki. BMW open a plant in Roseline in Pretoria and created lot of decent jobs.

Best based on what when most black people still don’t own the land in their own country?
@zwelimkosana9091Ай бұрын
@@darlingtonmachilar6745 what are you doing about it? Let's stop being armchair critics let's get out of our phones and PC's and mobilise each other as black people if we serious about the land issue. It's 2024 we keep on blaming other people instead of doing something about it. The land issue is our second revolution and let me tell it will be the most difficulty one to engage on as there will be a serious resistance from those who stole our land. Its not gonna be easy so prepare yourselves now and you will only win it when you get out of the phones and PC's. The only way to do it is to get on the streets mobiles, organise and politicise the people who want their land back. Remember government is not those who are in Parliament but us the people of this country. We are not yet serious about the land issue.

He was the best governor we ever had! His biggest moment/accomplishment in my view was when he protected us from the 2008 financial crash fiasco by not being sold on the idea of CDO's. This was only possible because he swam against the grain, he never succumbed to external pressure/forces. He always applied his mind and did not follow the crowd.

A Honorable and no State Captured Human with Sincere Integrity ! May his Soul RIP ! This is a Loss !
@loyisomalobola687Ай бұрын
I know this is outside the point, just thought I should point something out quickly. A State can't be captured & I'm sure many a political science student would agree with me. What happens is there's two terms that are used interchangeably, the State & government. Now I'm guessing State Capture alludes to the capture of government, there's a problem here again because there's three arms of government - the executive, legislature & judiciary. We can say for a fact the judiciary wasn't captured & because the ANC only constituted a portion of the legislature, no matter how significant, with a quite vibrant opposition - that at best there may have been a substantial capture of the legislature. Now we're left with the executive & here it is clear the Guptas had a significant control over the then president president, Jacob Zuma. So we might say, the Guptas had an undue & quite problematic, maybe even criminal, influence over the executive arm of government - but as bad as that was, that's not State Capture. Now ask yourself why the propaganda drive to establish this narrative of State Capture, a term no academic here in South Africa & abroad takes seriously?

No true. Let us not rewrite history. When he left the SARB and he had no protectors, he threw a huge tantrum at OR Tambo. He was bitter in last days as SARB governor, there is a famous clip of him giving it to some German SARS shareholder. It it terrible when folks rewrite history when people pass away. I think in this case people use his tweets in the last few years to claim "he was humble". Please! We know these politicians and in this particular case I saw him regularly at a hotel in Parktown 2010 (having dinner there), humble is not one of his attributes. Even when when de Ruyter was appointed at Eskom, it was pointed out that his records was terrible at Nampak, in fact Nampak share price tumbled and their debt sky rocketed, Mboweni defended de Ruyter having served in a board with him. And we all know 2022 and 2023 were the worst years in terms of loadshedding and Nampak had a massive rights issue in 2023 to save them from de Ruyter's disastrous years. Death is sad but we must not rewrite history, please!

I think my president and his foundation will learn to liaise with the ANC SG Mbaks and the presidency, even when he attends meetings in the AU and other African countries he has to support Ramaphosa the current mouthpiece for South Africa, I am quite certain that he himself would not have allowed Nelson Mandela to talk to the gathering without his knowledge especially if he himself would be the guest speaker, that is the party and the state protocol , I don't think that the ANC will need a critique of the ANC especially the one who is a senior member of the organization, his speech was marvelous but TM or his foundation needed to advise the Tito family to talk to the authorities from Luthuli house or union building
