Wow this is another phone I remember having as a kid! I love seeing these videos and going down memory lane. Thank you.

This series was a pretty complete lineup that had a lot of models to it. There's 1306 which is the most basic one (that you have), 1316 which adds another microcassette, and 1317 which adds the voice and clock functions, as well as the single digit display. Then there's 1506, 1516 and 1517 which add a basic line-powered telephone onto those respective 1300 models. And finally there's the white colors of all of those, which are their own weird model numbers. I believe they were all manufactured from 1993 to 1995. Really neat set. There definitely is a base microphone, it's a very tiny slot on the bottom left corner of the underside. It seemed like you figured this out by the end but just in case not: it automatically saves the messages after it finishes playing them unless you hit Rewind, then it will start at the beginning again and record over the old msgs.

Wow, I’m surprised that the phone hasn’t yellowed one bit! Remarkable condition I must say.

Very nice! I've been looking to get a corded phone that has a cassette answering machine for a while. Nice to know another model to look out for, I quite like this one quite a bit. I'd like to know if those adapters really put out AC...I always thought it was only AC to DC myself. Is there any way to test that out?
@techwithtyler203 жыл бұрын
I think it’s to DC as well, they just want you to believe it’s AC to AC.

This particular 1618 isn't nearly as common as some other ones like the 1506 for example, this one that he got is the only one I've ever seen. It is pretty neat though. I also thought no matter what the adapter said that it always put out DC, and I recently tried to use a DC adapter with something that wanted AC and it worked fine, but now I really am curious too. Perhaps a multimeter would confirm.

This is a very cool unit. I'm gonna guess 1992 or 93 for the date, just the way it looks (it's similar in design to your 1810 you have). Although it seems like they cheapened out on features (no base microphone, for example). At least they didn't cheapen out on where they manufactured it (it's still made in (North) America/Mexico as opposed to Taiwan or China, where they were outsourcing manufacturing of phones such as the Trimline Series to).

Judging by the number on the sticker at the bottom I would think 1993. There actually is a base microphone, it's perhaps the hardest to find on any AT&T phone lol. This probably would've been lower end because I think AT&T had some digital answering systems on the market at the time, but it's the most fully featured model of the particular series.

Where does the microphone dwell? The pickup seems quite decent despite not being somewhere that would obviously pick up the sound correctly.
@アレン-f2x3 жыл бұрын
you can speak into the handset to record the outgoing message since there is no microphone on the base.
@JordanU3 жыл бұрын
You cannot. There is a microphone on the base.
