AT&T CL4940 Digital Answering System Test

This is the AT&T CL4940 Corded Speakerphone with Digital Answering System Test (without calling it, of course). I'll do some further tests without calling as soon as the next 2 days arrive. By the way, after I made this video, the telephones started to ring, & the next video will show you how much I hate that the caller calls me & then hangs up without leaving a message on the answering system. The caller was not a regular caller at all, it was a telemarketer, that called me as soon as I made this video. The next video will be about that happening. I just don't like it when they call me. Eric is a lousy instructor.. he went so fast over the date.. I could not follow.. so my new set.. still has no date in it.. If you notice.. even that little lady bug is trying to escape.. Why doesn't he go clown around somewhere else.?..I will keep looking for help.

Laura Lawrence - Well, if the date has not been set, go to "Time & Date," then set the correct month, correct day & correct year. Tomorrow is the best way to set the date. 10/05/18 is the date. He flew away though. Thanks for reminding me. Okay then.

I got my phone on Friday but didn't try to install it install it until today, Saturday. Unfortunately, when I tried, I couldn't get it working. The cord that AT&T provided plugged into the telephone base but NOT into the handset. That didn't make any sense, so I naturally assumed that the problem MUST be with me, that I was doing something wrong. I then visited my neighbor to ask for her help. She had the same problem. She couldn't plug the cord into the headpiece. The port in the headpiece was just too small to accommodate the plug. Unfortunately, since it is now Saturday, I have to wait until Monday for help from AT&T. Oh, I should also mention that the first woman I talked to referred me to a second, who referred me to a third number, where I learned that I could not get the help I need on the weekend. Sigh. I'm 81 and I can remember when the service that Bell and then AT&T provided was unparalleled. More than that, with Bell and AT&T, you didn't really need service, because you never had any telephone problems. The good old days,.

Quableddistocficklepo - The Corded line goes between the telephone base & the Corded handset & the AC Adapter plugs into the other end of the base (where the hole is). You might want to try eBay & see if you can find one that's the perfect size then see if it fits. If it fits, you should have no trouble. If that cord doesn't work, buy another CL4940 from Wal-Mart. It should help you.

Aaron Dunn, I've already returned it. If I'm lucky, I should have a new phone by Monday. If I had waited until Monday to talk to a responsible person at the manufacturer's, my waiting for corrective measures would have begun on Monday.

That's a really nicely designed phone, buttons are neatly laid out and big, and I like how many of them light up. Answering machine seems to be outstanding sound quality which isn't too common. Wouldn't mind finding one of those now, lol. Good video!

Xyspade - Thanks. Lol! This answering machine came from Wal-Mart in Rayville, Louisiana. I bought this machine brand new. The other one, the CL4939, I got that one from Rusty Hanger Consignment (which used to be in Delhi, now somewhere else in Louisiana). So, may God Bless you!

Hopefully I'll try to come back tomorrow to the cabin & see about the AT&T E5827 5.8 GHz Cordless Phone with Digital Answering System & the DECT 6 Telephones with Digital Answering Systems, the EL52303 & TL92328. Both of the telephones work, except for the TL92328 Base Unit's Handset does not work when you press the Speaker button. It needed some rechargeable batteries for all 3 Handsets. The other system's Handsets all work, except I only can work on the Handset with the Base Unit right now. If I have another set of plug-ins, I could set them both up next to the Handset with Base Unit so they'll all ring. Anyways, thanks! I'll try to come over there & like & comment on your stuff. Have question, in brief setup instructions there's a diagram showing that the display adjusted. I can't get it to budge, concerned I might break something. How does one adjust to make it easier to view. Thanks

M Petersen - Simply all you have to do is to push up on the diagram display to make it viewable! That's all I would really have to recommend! That way, just in case if the diagram display breaks, you may have to buy another phone like this! It may cost you $40 plus tax right off the bat, but it's still worth it!

That’s how I set my clocks and phones too. I wait until the exact minute before saving the setting. It would be cool if phone lines could update the time just sitting there without the need for incoming CID.

YOU DID NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO MY PROBLEM. JUST RECEIVED VED PHONE TODAY . THE HANDSET (SPIRAL CORD) DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. IF SOMEONE CALLS , I CAN ONLY ANSWER THROUGH THE SPEAKER PHONE. HOPE YOU CAN HELP

Yep. Same with most digitan answering machines.

Aaron Dunn But line-powered phones immediately turn off if the line resets. You’ll hear a click from the speaker/earpiece if you’re off-hook when the line connects, disconnects, or when an extension is taken on or off hook.

That’s a nice answering machine! I’ve been looking at more answering machines at Goodwill. I unintentionally bought a loudspeaker array to use as a tornado warning siren in my city as we don’t have a working one.

Just Plain Weird Goat - Yes it is! As a matter of fact, I got this answering machine at Wal-Mart in Rayville, Louisiana. That's why it is working so well. By the way, some telemarketer company called me & unfortunately did not leave a message as soon as the tone was heard. I knew then that was a telemarketing company trying to call me! Bj - I don't really know exactly. When I come back to the cabin I will see if it does have a headset jack. If it does then yes. If it doesn't have a headset jack then unfortunately, no.

You could get a line splitter and AT&T TL7610 cordless headset. You can turn the headset on after making the call, then hang up the phone.

How do you add contacts to the phone

Carrie White - Press Menu/Select, press Call Log or Directory to select, "Add contact," press menu/select again to enter the telephone number, when you have entered the telephone number, press menu/select again to enter the name of the contact, & press menu/select again after you enter the name of the contact to save the contact. That's how you add contacts to the phone.
