I made a mistake in this video. By default, pfSense blocks traffic from its Lan to private addresses on the Wan side. If you can still connect to the ATT router, that's perfectly fine.

@@albertroswell I was about to ask that question too.. in a way I would like to still access the '254' ATT GUI if my Pfsense box dies then I can still revert to the ATT device. Question, do I assign the WAN IP as static on the Pfsense WAN interface or does that get assigned through DCHP when bridged?

@@airuzair2424 **WAN port on the Asus goes to the ethernet of the ATT gateway** The ONT is for the ATT Fiber "Feed." Don't let that last sentence confuse you. the only thing you need to worry about is ensuring the ASUS WAN goes to the ETHERNET port on the ATT gateway since that's your question. I just watched the video again and everything is very very straight forward. watch, pause and follow instructions for each step and you'll be fine. you may have to reboot all the systems a few times to ensure it works (as he says in the video) but I did not. it worked first time for me.

It was the Firewall > Firewall Advance settings that I needed to turn off for my performance to work as it should. With the default settings having some of these settings set to 'On', my performance was sporadic and noticeably slow - 10 mbps. Seeing this at the 2:19 marked caused me to pause and test it again with my own firewall and bingo, its working. thanks!

Thanks for this great video. I'm trying to help a buddy setup the Linksys EasyVPN in his office. He has an ATT BGW210 modem with a linksys router behind it. I think he has multiple public IP's on the ATT account. He has security cameras on the ATT BGW210 network so I don't want to mess up his remote viewing of those cameras. Does IP Passthrough allow me to only pass one of his public IP's to the secondary router (Linksys) where I have the EasyVPN service setup? On the ATT Modem, I don't see a way to only forward traffic on the VPN port to the Linksys router. Can you provide that info? Thank You!

Hey! Great video. I currently have fiber into my GBW 210 att router. I am totally following how to set up my TP link mesh Wi-Fi 6 system via ip passthrough mode via the GBW 210 - my only concern is will I still be able to somehow have a 2.4ghz network either via the 210 or somehow through a mesh System that offers 2.4 and 5 ghz. I only ask this because I do have some items in my home that will only run on a 2.4 ghz network. My att 210 router sucks so I need the mesh system to reach other points in my house. The ATT router doesn’t do anything like intrusion prevention (in the way that something like the UDM does). It also can’t do vlans and a bunch of other more advanced things. If you’re just a basic home user with a few ports open, you should be fine with the ATT router. Edit: you also can’t change your dns server on the ATT router so you can’t use something like pihole without manually configuring it on every device you have connected to the router. I mean you CANNN do that but really shouldn’t. It’s called double natting and it’s not good. If you need to open a port, you have to do it twice plus there are plenty of other issues like increased latency. They could also be on the same subnet so there could be overlapping ip addresses which would create issues. Really it’s best to just use pass through. It’s one of those things that takes 7 minutes now but will save you hours of troubleshooting later.

Mr. Miller, this is a very good video. If I may, a couple of feedback comments - You seem to be in a hurry - if you could slow down a bit, reduce the mouse movements a bit, just slow down. You are educating a very mixed age group here on KZbin and people, like me, are trying to learn and carry out what you are demonstrating - I appreciate your efforts here and I have used your video with a couple others to learn how to do the Passthrough Mode changes to my AT&T BGW210 modem/router. Thanks for your efforts.

Why would I want to do this? I have no idea what I’m talking. Is it for security? Privacy? Or lower latency?
@MillerTechnicalServices
@MillerTechnicalServices 2 жыл бұрын
I’m not trying to be rude in any way when I say this but if you don’t understand the concept, you wouldn’t need it. But the idea is because the ATT router is so limiting, people want to use a different router and this video is about disabling the firewall on the ATT router and having it get out of the way as much as possible.

im sorry but where the hell is the mac address located?? and why did you not show to disable the wifi from the att router
@MillerTechnicalServices
@MillerTechnicalServices 4 ай бұрын
You need the MAC address of your specific router you are forwarding to. That’s up to the vendor where they put it. My line of thinking in the video was “hey I already am using another router but now I need the Wan IP” and had already disable Wi-Fi for myself.

SCAM ALERT Guys, there is someone impersonating to be an att rep. If u r a new customer, please continue reading. The scammer will ask if u received your reward card. They will have your name, address, and are aware that u r getting a reward card. They know the expiration date and the first 8 digits of the card. They will pretend like they r going to add more funds. It’s a scam. Don’t give them any information.

att blows. They don't allow you to simply bridge their router. Only passthrough which slows down your connection (1gig down to 100m wifi) so they can see what you do and every device you have connected. and super high pings. pages load like it's dsl. At&t is the worst.

I tried this a while back and couldn't get it to work. I was never able to see my router on the network - only the AT&T gateway. I didn't know that I should keep re-booting, though. I also didn't turn off the at&t firewall stuff so maybe that had something to do with it also.

Did you have to turn off the DHCP on the ATT gateway? I am currently fighting with it. It keeps giving a 192.168 number to my UDMP. I have pass through setup but the ATT gateway isn’t doing the pass through. I am on my 20th reboot
