I understand if people have questions or have doubts. I don't understand why people feel the need to say unnecessary harmful things. I am a student in IWKA (Amsterdam) and have done yielding exercises with Sifu. I tried pushing Sifu with a lot of force while he remained completly unmovable. Not just staying in place but literally feeling like a rock. I was flustered for a day just thinking back on what I felt. It was strange and hard to explain but what I felt was not how you normally expect a body to feel. I know my experience with Sifu and fully believe the internal power as I have seen and felt it first hand by both Sifu and some of his Technician teachers in Amsterdam. Just keep the conversation clean people. If you want to experience it yourself.... the seminars are open for the public.

This is amazing stuff. I have been thinking about it from a physics point of view since I have some physics background. Please don't say that the experiment is useless, because it really helps understand what may be happening. Forgive the western take on it, but this is the way I'm processing knowledge. Here's my take: Each body has a center of mass. The human body's center of mass is at the belly (maybe this is the reason people keep mentioning the belly as the "center" of this phenomenon). Maybe what training does, is increase the sensitivity as to where the center of mass is. If you floated in space and flailed your hands, you would be unable to move your center of mass relative to your surroundings. Now imagine that you were attached to someone else in space. If you stayed immobile and they moved, they would move relative to you without you expending any energy. So, the key to this phenomenon is that the practitioner, as soon as they touch someone, they create *one body* and by subtle tension and redistribution of weight, create a situation, where even the smallest force in the two body system results in the other person receiving the sum of the forces. Basically they redistribute the forces in a way where they are at the center of the all the forces, where the sum of the forces is zero: When you were on the scale on your own, the scale was moving more than when you touched hands. This means that by clever use of the other person's movement you somehow make it so that yourself stays in place. There are some interesting counter-intuitive physics experiments like that (check veritasium's channel or hey, just ask him to collaborate to explain this, I think he is a martial artist himself) where you expect there to be force but there isn't. If you place yourself at the center of the dynamics system, then things are simple: You are in control of it and any minor motion you add can move the whole. Some other observations that might help get an intuition of why this is happening: * Dead people, who are fully relaxed are much harder to move. * Pianists can often create tremendous force on a piano without moving much. I've seen instruments vibrate to the point where they shake too much to play comfortably, while I'm not really feeling much of a force on my hands at the time. It may be similar dynamics that explain that phenomenon too. There is some resonance involved with that though - not sure if this is the case here, you seem to be circling your hands though and I imagine this could create some rotation frequency that you can resonate and balance with. Of course "explaining" it does not make this easier to pull off, you have to feel your body and the tensions involved. It took me more than 20 years to be a decent piano player and this looks way, way harder.

I'm a complete beginner since I don't have an IWKA training center close to where I live, but when I used to train in Sifu Serjio's system after having done a similar amount of training in traditional Ip Man Wing Chun, I can attest to this. Serjio is truly doing something completely different from any other kind of martial art I've seen. We used to have a guy who was both really heavy(150ish kg) and really well balanced and trying to push him over was like trying to push a wall, even when 3 of us tried together for fun. I witnessed Sifu Serjio pushing him 2 meters back and slamming him onto a couch that broke. Most of what he shows in these videos he's not really trying either. People arguing against this should really just go find one of Serjio's seminars and see for themselves.

This was very nicely done. KZbin lessons offer a different challenge from teaching classes in person. Here, anyone can walk into the discussion with no direct experience or understanding of what you are doing. It certainly can get frustrating. What impresses me is that there are not more trolls than there are. I hope you keep trying to explain it. Teachers do not live forever. Few students will master it. And we certainly will not get rich teaching martial arts. I believe that making a record of your experience is a gift to the world that will have a lasting meaning.

Hello I'd like to share my thought's on this, I'd think this effects may be explained with the moment of inertia if you sit on a wheelchair and slowly push against a wage, which is vertically mounted against a wall you will roll back within a certain amount of force, but if you sent out a short impulse of force you may not move at all and the maximum force detected by the wage may be much higher. In my experience internal kungfu movements are basing on very short movements/contractions of ligaments and small muscles inside the body and thereby are hard to explain within physics, because there is so much dynamical changes and complex connected things ongoing which cannot really be observed outside the body. Furthermore these movement are such complex that learning by understanding is much harder than classical external skills like reactionary forces, which is not bad since our brain don't need to understand all physics to learn the right way to move. Saying that something isn't possible due to simple !static! physics laws isn't possible is totally ignoring the complexity of the these movements. In my opinion Chi/Ji or whatever you like to call these things are a way trying to explain something so complex you simply can't express by traditional movement descriptions (even if you are totally capable doing it) , but they are no superhuman powers either, that's probably the misunderstanding of many people. However I like your videos keep going, you shouldn't really mind the haters, I mean its the internet... and the trolls are everywhere ;) Think of the many more people enjoining what you do =)!

Great Explanation and demonstration Sifu 😊🙏. As a private student of Sifu since 2017, I can attest to his abilities. Rember other viewers, with respect, watching a video, is a visual interpretation, it is NOT a feeling in real time, interpretation. That's the way to truely understand such ability as Sifu Sergios.

Sifu Sergio, same thing happens in our channel. Something that has helped us continue and maybe you could also consider with all due respect, is to see if it is worthy to stop doing something because of those who speak bad of you, or should maybe you consider keep doing it because of those who would follow you to the end of the Earth? The internet can be very frustrating and evil, because it gave a voice to a lot of ignorant people, but also it gave a lot of GOOD people the chance to learn, enjoy and grow with the information you have been providing throughout the years. The lineages, systems and history you have taught the world have been an eye opener to many. We wish for you strength and hope that you can outgrow these feelings.

Amazing demonstration. I see it is genuine, Sifu Sergio's partners in this video are not yielding and not faking it. For the sceptics, I could elaborate that this thing does not defy any laws of physics. What Sifu Sergio is describing "as injection of Chi" basically he's moving his center of mass by a little bit. That movement is tiny but if you look carefully it is noticeable in his videos. Center of mass is located somewhere in waist area and in eastern terms they call it Dan Tien. If your center of mass rises, you become heavier and arrow on the scales shows more weight. This also happens when Sifu braced from the ground and pushed his partner away. If your center of mass drops down, arrow on the scales shows less weight, you become slightly lighter. So when Sifu Sergio injects Chi, his center of mass moves a little bit forward and down. Basically he "gives" a little bit of his mass to his partner that's why at that tiny moment arrow on the scales shows that his weight became slightly lighter. If Sifu's opponent also would stood on the scales, his weight would've increased. So the conservation of energy and momentum are not violated. If Sifu Sergio would've braced from the ground, his own weight on the scales would've increased as is shown in the 1st demonstration. It does not matter how you call it: either traditionally "Chi" or "Ki", or "Mind force" (in case of Chu Shong Tin and his students), or smart center of mass manipulation. Nevertheless it is amazing skill and it's not easy to do, but with enough practice it is achievable. You must see and even better feel it to believe it.

He sits on a office chair and he is not being pushed around. Can you explain this with your tai chi concepts? -Someone asked Ian Sinclair a question over at his channel so I thought I would take a try at answering. This would be force absorption and neutralization. The force is neutralized completely at the point of contact is counter spiral, counter frequency vibrations. You can check youtube channel Martial Man for his Adam Tai chi interview to see a demo. There is a force pushing you down into a ground but once your spine is straight in the classics, you neutralize the horizontal force with a right angle vertical force going up. The vertical up and down force neutralize each other, and when combined with the horizontal force, also neutralizes the horizontal force. Thus when facing heavy pressure, there really isn't as much weight on the legs as one might expect. The more joints a person can master to create spiral counter rotational energy, the more force they can absorb and or neutralize. That isn't particularly all that hard. Someone can push a wall for a thousand plus hours and get this skill. The level after this, force transmutation, is rather trickier. I'm after 5000+ hours more or less. Sergio has indeed advanced to the next level in chi manipulation. The leg joints will break if one uses Newtonian physics to counter force. A proper absorption and neutralization feels like nothing is happening. Because energy is being rendered null and void, so that a slight movement up can move an object. This is easier to do on a human body that is 70% water than on an object that is 70% mass and stone. Stone doesn't react to energy easily. It tends to absorb more energy than the body can create nor does it emit visible energy. Instead of using Newtonian classical physics, Nikola Tesla's frequency vibrations and quantum physics should be used instead to attempt to grasp chi. There are severe limitations to understanding chi through classical physics. It is easier to sense it as vibrations and to mimick the vibrations. The frequencies can be thought of as waves that neutralize or amplify each other. People can look up quantum locking and sound levitation. The ancients called it Earth, Fire, Air, Water, Metal, Wood. Western science doesn't use that.

Hi Sifu Sergio I think people have the right to their opinion But the fact of the matter is all of them with their distructive criticism most probably don't come close to you ito knowledge, skill and experience It will be really sad and a great loss to the "wing chun world" should you stop creating these mind blowing videos which is yet to be seen by most of these destructive critics. By that I mean they cannot create such in depth videos. Please do not succumb to their nonsensical comments and continue to empower us that wants to learn more. Sorry for referring to the Bible but when Jesus in the book of John 6 was rejected by most of the + 70 followers, He asked the remaining 12 why don't they also leave but they told him that they know that He is the Christ, the Son of the living God, hence they stayed with Him. Now all the others previously stayed because they wanted to hear what they wanted to hear and not what they should be hearing from Him. All because they did not understand his Spiritual Depth. This all can be likened to you Sifu Sergio most out there don't understand the true depth of Wing Chun (Wing Tjun). Not really. I mean, the extent how someone "defies" physics in your eyes is related to two things: 1) how deep is your understanding of what's happening 2) how is it explained to you by them Now, I'm a mechanical engineer and yet I believe what I see here because I've experimented it on my own skin. It's not magic, it is perfecly coherent with physics if you understand what's happening.
