Perfect reunion timing wise. It was only roughly 10 years after RoC so they still had some youthful punk energy to give as did their core fans. We were still in our 30s. After TMV and Sparta split, we all but lost hope that there could ever be a reunion. Between the 2012 and 2016 shows, I must have gone to like 5 of them because you knew that it was a special time and almost one last celebration of our rapidly fleeting youth. And here we are 10 years later. Viva ATDI, my youth.

at the drive in used to play my town when they first started out as a band (sioux city). my dad used to be an avid party thrower/concert goer. when ever they played a venue here he was always there and was actually able to form a friendship with 2 of the members. they ended up playing one of my dads party’s and he can recall l (i’m assuming the lead singer?) trying to do a backflip off his coffee table and getting into a playful argument that he wasn’t going to do a back flip, he didn’t end up doing a back flip lol.

This was the time Omar's mother passed away and he just wasn't into performing at the time. But Cedric is fucking hilarious in between songs, que chingon! \m/

Is that what the deal was? Sorry to hear it. Yeah, he’s straight Sonic-Youthing it thru a lot of these songs. (nothing against SY but you know what I mean).

This band are freakin out there! They make music no one understands but it all sounds killer. I once tried reading the lyrics and it confused the hell outta me. I now understand the technique. It's the sound of the words not the meaning. That's genius level songwriting. Not many people can write lyrics that make no sense on paper but when they're put to music it all explodes. Meat Puppets are one of the only other bands that have been doing it for decades.

No one understands? This is post-hardcore. If you know anything about this genre then you know. Clearly you don’t.

Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's meaningless. Maybe you're just too young? Or too shallow? Or too dumb?

they do have meanings, it's just very surreal and abstract. the majority of in/casino/out is very political, you just gotta deconstruct every line.

Cedric had a lot of issues with his voice, ultimately needing surgery for modules on his vocal chords. So he essentially can't really scream the same way any more which makes performing most of these songs difficult really. Thankfully jim was there to provide some grit. If you watch atdi 2001 big day out set, cedrics voice sounds much closer to the studio versions

At least you know it live and real music 99% of acts these day just play to recorded tracks and sing over recorded vocals of themselves
