I just ordered this bass, and from the sound of this slamming riffs I’m going to be a happy camper.

I hope you will also. In my case, however, I wasn't much satisfied with its weight-balance. It was kind of neck-heavy, but I'm super-sensitive to that and you might not find it annoying. On the other hand, it sounded very well - definitely one of its strongest points!

@@TomMarello good to know, I bought it for studio use so no stage diving will be performed with it, that I know of yet to be determined🤘

Sick cover! I've been wanting to buy the sr305eb.. But compared that with ur cort 4 string, which you like better?
@TomMarello3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Check out my both Cryptopsy Phobophile clips, one is played on SR305, other on Cort B5 and with same pedalboard settings. Personally, I prefer B5 over 305 - much better balance (305 is neck heavy), higher quality wood, better preamp, better looks (at least to me), and its kinda snappier under fingers which i like. Soundwise its brighter and more articulated (barts MK1 are split-coils in soapbar housing while ibanez dual-coil powerspans are fatter and its onboard preamp goes into unpleasant overdrive when bass is boosted)

I'm checking out this model of Bass tomorrow, with tone like that I reckon I'll be picking it up 💪
@TomMarello2 жыл бұрын
I've sold it because I didin't like its balance and neck dive. And be aware that the sound in this clip is heavily affected by several units on the pedalboard

@@TomMarello Oh really? That's very disappointing to hear, one thing I can't stand is neck dive. I'll have to check that out and see if there might be other options there.
@TomMarello2 жыл бұрын
Its body it feather-light so the neck dive is inevitable regardless of its body shape.

@@TomMarello I couldn't get the WK, but the SR305E that I got had no issues with neck dive but the pickup elements hate finger style. I'm guessing you probably had to adjust their height down a bit?
@TomMarello2 жыл бұрын
I don't remeber it being uncomfortable for the plucking hand even in stock setup. And I'm surprised that yours doesn't have neck dive, maybe we use different techniques while playing to support the neck with the left hand

@@TomMarello Do you use the Battalion as your main distortion sound?
@TomMarello2 жыл бұрын
I haven't changed my pesalboard setup much, it's still there but I use it just for the mild overdrive. For grindier sound, I stack MXR M80 after it in series.

So your using the Battalion as a sort of cleanish boost?

Great playing. Is this Ibanez bass comfortable to hold play seated? Have read reviews where people are saying the body is too light and the neck too heavy causing it to dive a lot..?
@TomMarello2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It wasn't comortable, nor seated nor standing due to its huge neck dive. Eventually I've sold it because of that and bought Cort B5 which has perfect balace - no neck dive at all.

I was amazed by Cort B4 which I've bought earlier and knew for sure that B5 would work in my hands much better than Ibanez

@@TomMarello not sure if I like the look of the roasted maple necks on the B4 & B5.. yours appears to be quite dark (which looks better) did they darken up over time?
