The RR has a engineer for a hour program but I dont know if it includeds the steamer. Thanks so much for posting this video. I also gotta thank the guys of the 765 group for all the hard work that once again brought this engine back to virtually new status. I love those people and had a few questions and comments durring the rebuild, which I got a concise, friendly and accurate replys. Thank you gang!

In Cleveland around 1957, I was about 5 years old and used to love watching the locomotives (Berkshires, but I didn't know that until later in life) pulling their high speed freight trains along the NKP mainline that crossed W112th Street. As kids would do, we all waved to the engineer and hoped to hear that steam whistle. I wanted to be an engineer, when I grew up, more than anything. In this video, the engineer mentions the unique sound of the whistle and I still remember it to this day.

Guess like firing a steam locomotive: It's easy as long you only move a few yards in the shed-yard forward and backwards. But the difficulty begins, if the engine is tied to a train and has to move a line. You battle with the firebed, you battle with the showvel and the swinging cab, you battle with the water pumps and you won't think you could handle it... Same with the throttle and moving the train a line as a driver.

What about 6325? I don't hear much about that one. Still in good shape? I'd love to see some steam pulling freight around the Weirton-Stuebenville area. It wasn't long ago we seen two E-8's going down the river with a passenger train. Those old Penseys were a sight to see.

um about 2 years ago they had the run in western indiana and they had two slots to spend an hour fireing and an hour running the 765. for 765 dollers, they said they would love to be able to do that again if the fra would allow and they could find a privet railroad to host it, but so far no takers yet, and of course you had to attend a short corse in the weeks before they let you on the spot 3 years ago it was around fathers day now that I remember, but it is what many people dream about, heck when its steamed up I would give them money just to let me pull the throttle out for a revolution of the pistons or two just like they would do to warm it up and flush it out on a cold day so they dont blow the pistons, I dont even have to go anywhere, I would be happy if I could put it in nutral and tug it out a little ways and blow some steam and throttle jerk her just once, I asked last year at the open house and at the hoosier heritage train visit last year, Mr Winniker is like we want to keep an even pressure on her as the fire dies off and they can put her away, from which she will hold heat for a weeks due to all the insulation and heavy iron and steel in her belive it or not.

When I was filmed in the video it cost me $50. I know that the slots filled up so quickly that the second time they did this the price went up. Last I heard it was $100. That being said it was one of the best experiences of my life. Well worth it at any price.

Good! Enjoy your relationship with law enforcement. It is illegal, but not impossible to do! Not every property theft is recovered. Often, the property is considered lost. If people need cash in these desperate times, (many do these days), steam locomotive parts can be sold through an underground network. The cash gained can be quite lucrative & all with NO QUESTIONS ASKED! Help yourself! COLD HARD CASH PAID! Enjoy your great relationship with law enforcement! Junk the steam locomotives!

It is much more valuable as a cash source to have people who need cash desperately obtain collectible parts like the whistle, bell, gauges sets, number boards, marker lights, headlight, builders plate, linkages, boiler over pressure relief valves, boiler water sight glasses, hoses, subassemblies, air pumps, valves, steam chests, boiler front doors & many other desirable collectible parts which all can be sold from their automobile trunks with NO QUESTIONS ASKED! It could be very profitable!

YOu are lucky they usually dont let people drive the 765 anymore for the engioner for an hour program, they use a diesle for that I think, last I checked but you never know, I have sat in her seat at her home while on a tour with mr byers from the society. now the program is about 150 I think.
