Here’s a fun little thing, I was the one blowing nkp 757’s whistle throughout the whistle battle, and I will say I definitely lost to 765
@crabbinmoose85832 жыл бұрын
Without a fire in the belly of 757, you just couldn't get the same pressurized steam needed to play the full dynamic range of the whistle as you could on 765. This is because it was cooling down going through that rubberized pipe between the two locomotives. 757 still sounded great. 765 almost sounded overblown at times because of so much pressure behind it. Regardless, whenever two antiques like that get together, it's all very special indeed! Hope you had lots of fun!

Now that is cool. how excited were you when you got into the cab of the engine? 765 had a great whistle. I would agree as well. But boy oh boy was 757 a more surprising engine to see.

I would say that I sometimes wonder why I'm a railfan, but then I see videos of stuff like that whistle battle, and all that wondering just evaporates. Also, seeing 765 with a black smokebox again is fantastic. It makes it look close to how it did back in it's revenue days on the Nickel Plate, and I'm all for that. Now if only they'd paint the firebox black again. And 757 with the oscillating headlight alongside the 765 is a tasty cherry on top of the already delicious cake.
