The vehicle would have to overcome the downforce generated by its design. Typically this isn’t the case as downforce is needed to to aid in tire adhesion as speeds increase. In order for a missing section of road to not effect the vehicle, the vehicle would have to be creating more lift than downforce (flying) just above the surface of the road.
@hamjudo
@hamjudo 2 жыл бұрын
If these becomes a common road feature, then cars will need dynamically adjusted spoilers and other aerodynamic surfaces. This could also help with landing cars after jumping off ramps. Bad things happen if anything other than rubber hits the road on landing.
@VenerhiaStellarvore
@VenerhiaStellarvore 2 жыл бұрын
There's other factors that would have to be taken into account, ride height/clearance, wheel size, tire width, type & pressure, how stiff and how high suspension can move, etc.. but going faster only makes it less dangerous because the car has less time to fall down in the hole and thats only past a certain high speed, if youre right under but still fast it can be catastrophic.
@VenerhiaStellarvore
@VenerhiaStellarvore 2 жыл бұрын
@@hamjudo At that point youre almost better to have hydraulics making the car hop a bit to give it more height, I think it would be more forgiving than aerodynamic components alone.

So while watching I decided to throw together a formula for the minimum speed required to clear a gap of a given distance. Distance is in meters and the speed it gives is in mph (X/sqrt(0.07/4.905))*2.237 where X is the distance you want to cross Explanation: This was derived by solving for how long an object will take to drop a certain distance due to the force of gravity. 4.905 is half of the gravitational constant because calculus reasons. Everything to the right of the division is solving for the maximum amount of time the vehicle is allowed to travel, and since X is meters, this gives m/s. 2.237 is the conversion factor to mph. As for the 0.07, this corresponds to a drop of 7cm. More than that and the car seems to break in some way based on the experimental results in the video. Feel free to give this a try and see how well it works! As for the 20 and 25m gaps, you would need to hit 375 mph and 468 mph respectively in order to cross the gap without taking any significant damage

Also theres not a speed camera at the end of every unrestricted section... i havent seen any cameras at the end of unrestricted but i suppose its not impossible but definetly not every stretch.

Going 2, the 4, then 6, then 8, then 10 is linear, you add 2 every time. Going 2, then 4, then 8, then 16, then 32 is exponential, you multiply by 2 every time. It's not the exact definition at all, but te general idea.
