If Magpul made an A1 style and length stock that fit on a carbine length tube they would sell a million of them. All it would need is a locking tab and screw on the underside to lock into one of the adjustment notches in the buffer tube.

I recently got the MOE® Fixed Carbine Stock - Mil-Spec and while a good stock, it shortens the LOP by about 1-1.5 inches. I needed a longer length of pull so, I did what any good American would do and got on you tube. Turns out the fix is relativity easy but requires drilling the tube. Mission is accomplished ( about 10 mins of your time) and length of pull is where it should be for me, for anyone else, maybe not.

My AR came with a B5 system stock and I replaced it with the Magpul STR. MUCH BETTER. I love the ergonomic butt pad.

Sl-k, basically the same as SL version but more compact so faster shouldering and lock into shoulder. lighter and less stuff to snag on. quicker and less protrusive

I wish they still made the M93B Experimental, although the Ergo version was easier to install. The M93B definitely wasn't the most economical choice with a price of $175-$200 but it is the most robust collapsible stock I've ever used. I have 4 and I'm always on the lookout for more on the used market. Good video, useful information that was well presented.

@@At3tactical MagPul created the "M93B Experimental" collapsible stock, MSRP $250 +/-. It came with shims of various thickness to properly index the stock to your lower, a definite pita. MagPul discontinued that stock, probably due to it's complexity or maybe low sales IDK, but had some kind of deal with Ergo who made a slightly improved version, std plate and castle nut no shims, and sold it as the Ergo F93 (I’m pretty sure it's F93). My last Ergo 93 was $150-$200 I don't remember exactly. The last MagPul M93B Experimental I saw for sale was on GB, the seller was asking $450 and I'm almost certain that was used not NOS. There were 2 accessories available for the 93, a 1/4" thick rubber butt "pad" that is for no slip and a "strike plate". The strike plate fits on the toe of the butt, is aluminum and has "serrations". If you manage to find one it will probably have the butt pad but it's gonna be 50/50 at best on the strike plate being there. I've made several, I have a Bridgeport, so if you wind up needing one let me know. Edit Here's a link to a 13 year old KZbin video, review of the MagPul M93B.

I always go for the STR. I prefer the cheek weld. However I do have some advice for people who want the CTR with a riser. Buy the either the Larue riser that actually slides on guiderods and springs. Or get the Magpul riser and grab your professional gunsmithing dremel and cut off wheel. Cut it back to the first internal rib you can then use your charging handle and have a good riser For taller sights

Thanks! Glad to help. Because the battery storage is more "tucked in" or slimmed on the SL-S, it's going to have slightly less surface area for your cheek weld. (Slightly... like ~0.2" difference from 2.4" - 2.6") For me, both have WAY better cheek space than the CTR (~1.7")...in which case the choice would be weighted more towards the type of storage I would prefer, assuming that is a feature you are looking for with these two options. In that department, the SL-S would be my personal choice. Hope that helps! -Randy

Thanks, Gary...! I can 100% put a bit more personal opinion in these videos. It's sometimes difficult to strike the balance between unbiased info and not seeming like a "shill". In this case, for me ...MS4 as a standard minimum, but adjust as mission necessary. (I.e. - MSR1 Padded w/sling swivels and "rifleman's loop" ready for longer range/heavier shooting.) 👍

I love the look of the fixed carbine stock but it's just too short for me. Even with the thicker butt pad you can get for it, the length of pull never felt right for me and I'm like 5'9 on a good posture day.

Haha! Well, now that it's looking like I'll need a new stock for my "ATF compliant" AR Pistol->SBR ... For that stubby 10.5" setup, I'm sold on that Magpul SL-M or SL-K. I've got only Magpul stocks on my 6.5 Grendels and 6mmARCs, with two of them the PRS Lite. I like the look of the PRS Lite, but the cheek riser adjustment is kinda pointless on an AR, with its straightline stock-to-sights alignment. I like the "fat" cheekweld of their storage stocks, but replaced the ACS - cuz of their bulk and their little side storage compartments are useless - with the SL-S.

I was looking for the CTR but I only see it advertised as AR-15 /M16 will that work for my Aero AR-10?

If your Aero has the Aero AR308 Carbine Buffer Kit, then you certainly can use the Magpul CTR. The difference comes down to that buffer tube length. Many AR10s utilize a "Rifle Length" buffer tube, which is the same length as your A2 Fixed-Stock AR15 buffer tubes (really, almost all "Rifle Length" AR15 buffer tubes). That said, because the CTR is for a "Carbine Length" buffer tube (think of most collapsible stock AR15s out there), in order to use it for your standard AR10 with a "Rifle Length" buffer system... you would need to swap the buffer spring, buffer weight, and buffer tube. (Which is why Aero makes the AR308 Carbine Buffer Kit.) Hopefully that helps. Check out this full video we did on the in's/out's of all things buffer assemblies! The majority of fixed stock lengths you'll find these days are going to be that A2 length (~10"in). CMMG and a handful of other manufacturers do make A1 lengths as well (~9.75+"in).

grips next but not just magpul. all I have ever wanted out of a stock is lightweight ergonomic feel, A.L.P. needs to hide buffertube and caste nut, and be the same width and length of the rear of the receivers. giving it that look that it is made to the rear of the receivers, similar to a fixed stock or the magpul PRS. preferably less than $49. which in my opinion, is plenty for a well made stock of any brand. anything more is just highway robbery

@@grantgames4637 In that case, additional battery storage would definitely be top of mind for me. Knowing batteries fail at the most opportune times (let's be honest, I fail the batteries by leaving them on), automatically I want spares on hand. The CTR does not have that feature. Sure, batteries can go in the pistol grip...but depending on which laser or light you go with, at a minimum each will require at least one CR123 or similar sized battery. The STR holds 4 in total and it is has a FAR more reliable waterproofing seal than the ACSs of the world. Hope that helps!
