I always loved the 2nd degree, and 4th degree forms...ATA Black Belt forms are like the Star Trek movies...the even numbered ones are the best...

I think the 5th degree is the best, very tricky but very fun.

I’m so sad I never got to fully learn this form. I only learned like maybe 25% of it and then I stopped Tae Kwon Do. This one looked so cool and always amazed me.

I’m not sure what your reason for stopping was, but I was in a similar boat about 18 years ago - I quit to focus on college prep and career stuff. Just started again after my kids began ATA and finished learning the form, it’s so good to be back! If you’re physically and financially able, I would recommend giving it another try!

@@BradyAmerson I did Tae Kwon Do from 2nd grade to 7th grade. After, I switched over to basketball, dancing, and started taking school more seriously.

I always thought the Requirements for Tae kwon do black belt should be: Splits Can hold leg at head level for two minutes Master the Spinning hook kick Like BJJ, Black belts should be acquired solely based on skill, Not personality
@Elurin Жыл бұрын
Spinning hook kick is pretty sure a blue belt technique. And what taekwondo, nay, what martial art promotes based on personality???

IndiaRubber Man Its hard to learn and memorize but easy once you've got it.
@VJ-Vice9 жыл бұрын
It really isn't as hard as it sounds. This is especially considering that you have around 2 and a half years to do this form
@lionsmaine12389 жыл бұрын
Don't worry, it's all muscle memory. It's simpler than you think
@Stonemask57 жыл бұрын
The repeating patterns throughout the form make it easier, as well.

Well, that's the great thing about Songahm poomsae, especially for the lower level belts, from white to black all your techniques you have to learn for your belt level are included in the poomsae.

Yet again with those shaky feet, are people aware that when your sifu or senpai teach a kata they have a stick and hit you with it when you screw up, even when you dont to "form conditioning" i understand that corporal punishment is no longer acceptable but this is just plain ridiculous.
@primeskits80984 жыл бұрын
Ummm no it's not. ATA instructors don't beat you with a stick if you suck. That's probably just your crappy school
@ju5mike9064 жыл бұрын
@@primeskits8098 you must be from the school of mcdojo EVERY real school, sorry every best school included corporal punishment for improper technique. I studied WuShu under a gung fu master, ask scott Adkins, Michael jai white, Jackie chan or jet li, and they will all tell you they got beat for improper technique so please keep your mouth shut if you have no idea of what you are talking about.
