First Nations - Atacameño
In the Andean foothills of the second region, near the Atacama Salt Flat, the community of Peine preserves its ancient corn and some ancestral rites. Very close by is the Tulán Temple, dated at 3,000 years old. We witness sowing, harvesting, irrigation, and the great ritual of the Canal Cleaning. Wise men and women reflect on their history and present. We travel with them through ancient Licanantay lands. Key cultural elements include: Attachment to agriculture, water, the cleaning of canals, and the defense of their traditions.
