Atalanta Bergamo: A David to Goliath story and the Ultras 🇮🇹

How is is possible that a small town of 120K inhabitants, about an hour distance from Milan have such a Powerhouse of a football team able to win the Europa league?
Also, how is it possible that this small team (turning big), have a fan base of almost "Legendary Status" in the microcosm of football fans and Ultras?
Join me in this video while we seek answers and learn about a world with its own rules and code of honor. And while doing so we get to go TWICE to the newly renovated Atalanta stadium to watch the pride of Bergamo facing Como.

Fantastic video, congratulation. Just some point to correct: During Atalanta-Valencia the supporter of Atalanta were 45.000 not 20.000 The covid virus spread in an hospital of the province, the football match has nothing to do with it. The sunday before all football team played. Bergamo city is small but the football team represent all the province that with more than 1,1 milion of people is one of the bigger province in Italy. They still give t-shirts to newborns! And not only in Bergamo but in every hospital of the province of Bergamo. "Atalantino nato" (Born Atalantino). My son was born last december at the city's hospital and obviously he has his Atalanta t-shirt along with a "welcome to the family" letter from Percassi!

Hi Antony. I'm an Atalanta fan from London, your video is brilliant. Great job, really loved it. Just been in Bergamo last Saturday to watch Atalanta-Genoa, 5-1, what a memorable day. My dad is English from Canterbury while my mum is 100% Bergamasca, from Bergamo -Borgo Santa Caterina (a beautiful historic district). I've been going to Atalanta games since I'm five, about 3-4 games every season. At first with my mum and my Italian granpa and now with my girlfriend and/or some Italian relatives and friends. Great atmosphere. One last thing, my cousin from Bergamo received two Atalanta's shirts from the club for her newborn twin girls (the couple in the video is wrong, Atalanta still sends a free jersey to every newborn kids born in Bergamo and its provence). Hey Anthony, Atalanta sends a baby shirt to every newborn not only in Bergamo. They send an official shirt to any Atalanta newborn supporter around the world. I live in The Netherlands and when my second son was born I applied and I got a shirt after a week! (!!) 🖤💙

Actually the costruzione of the new stadium has given the final cut to the "old" style of supporting. From the '80s until 2017, we're well known in Italy and Europe as Curva Nord Bergamo, with our behaviours and codes. In 2017 started the "Americanization" of the football in Bergamo with the new stadium. This trend leads to the actual situation composed by a mode of supporting the team similar to the U.S.A. So people it's cold, few chants, most of the people stay sitted down in silence. *People that never attended the "Atleti Azzurri d'Italia" when the old Curva Nord were still working, couldn't even imagine what kind of magic atmosphere there was.* WKA 1907
