Great job on the lawn. The only suggestion I have (take it or leave it) is the straw. You lay it on top of the seed to help it germinate and hold moisture. I'm not sure who told you to "clean it up" once the grass starts to grow. Don't do that. Just like grass clippings when you mow, it will break down and you won't know it was even there after some time. Will then provide nutrients into the topsoil just as the grass clippings do after it is mowed an falls down below the surface.

Hope it worked. Lime will dry it up, and more importantly, raises your ph . If you have high PH soil. If you have high ph, then it's counterintuitive. It's good to know your pH level in your soil before adding anything to it. Correct PH allows fertilizer and nutrients to be absorbed into your sod , food plots, plants etc if you want good results

Many people have said that back plowing (to flatten out things like rock or your topsoil) is not good for the tractor. Is that true? I've found watching your videos has helped me with my own homestead work and just wanted to say thanks - keep it up. Oh yeah... congratulations on your retirement from the FD.

I'm doing my homework and getting ready to buy a 1025R - came across your channel and really enjoy your videos. Noticed the plastic caps in the area you're having issues with. Assume those are your septic tanks and, if so, is the trouble area where your drain field is located? Might be an indicator that there's an issue with your drain field.
@ataleofthreecabins10254 жыл бұрын
I don't think the drain is an issue, it exits on the opposite side. I don't think the tank itself leaks as the liquid level is alway even with the drain pipe. We don't have a leach field, the exit pipes heads in the opposite direction and goes down our property line for about 200'. We had the tank emptied a few month ago and refilling it via the house line was OK. The wet area doesn't have an odor. Our neighbor had a leak on their property and you could tell when the wind blew just right. Good luck with your purchase, it will change the way you do so many things.

I went through your videos and did not see a video on how the grass turned out. I have the same issue you were having and was wondering if your efforts worked well so I can try them, but of course if it didn't work then I won't go through what you did. Thanks

It came out a little patchy. We had a gully washer not long after seeding which which pooled clusters of peat moss. Grass came up good in those areas. I’m going to over seed this week. The soft spot is gone, like to see how the area is when the leaves are back and full shade again.

You almost need to dig a trench from the steps into the woods 4’ deep, line it with fabric, drop a 4” perforated pipe, lay stone a top with fabric . A drain basically give the water someplace to go . There’s probably a spring underground

Nice loader work, you look like a pro spreading out that top soil! Do you think the wet spot could be coming from the septic system? Good use of your drone! Cheers!

I don't think so, there is no odor, I know where the sewage line from the house travels to the tank. It was just emptied a few months ago and I usually fill it up via laundry, dishwasher, showers, etc. It appeared to be draining fine and intact. There is no odor either as I seen others fail and usually give of a strong odor overtime. Thanks for asking, Take Care, Tom

Great work! You do not have a water line in that area do you. Not sure if you have a well or city warmer. Just thought the line may have a crack and leaking. Enjoyed the video!
@ataleofthreecabins10254 жыл бұрын
No water lines or sewage in that area. Where the sewage lines drain its dry.

I planted some grass seed within the last week as well. I really like your idea of using peat moss to cover it, but I used straw. Yours should be coming up about the same time as mine.

There's something very farmer'ish about watching the tiller attachment. It might be my fav JD attachment. Have to say I'm stumped on how to resolve the wet area issue. Maybe numerous french drains. Or not. :-) Hope the grade change works.

I had a good laugh when you put the mower down. What drone do you use? Can a person that cannot operate an rc car fly the drone?
@ataleofthreecabins10254 жыл бұрын
I use a Mavic Air 2. Had a Mavic Pro 1 before that. It takes a little skill to operate especially if you driving a tractor at the same time. The built in GPS makes them very stable so I can put in the air an leave it.

Perhaps water from the roof when it rains ends up keeping that area in your lawn wet. If the gutters or eves add alot to that area, it might not give it time to dry out between rains. Just a thought, keep up the great work and videos.
@bradmuth10144 жыл бұрын
Probably could of built it up with some sand to help with drainage and then put top soil down
@alittleofthisandalittleofthat4 жыл бұрын
I bet the wet area is a cracked pipe in your sewer bed.
@ataleofthreecabins10254 жыл бұрын
I know there are no pipes in that area, they discharge on the opposite side of our septic tank which is dry in that area plus a lower grade. We do have a high water table and the last 4 or 5 years have been wetter rain wise. Not sure though, Take Care, Tom
