The turbo has been a game changer for my 1025R. I'm at 8000' elevation and the tractor really struggled. Now, it's a beast. I use a front JD 54HD blower and it can eat packed wet snow without any problems.

Could you possibly touch on the intake port/crankcase vent? If you charge the intake with 8 psi and it is open to the cold suction side via the pcv hose, how does it hold intake boost? Is there some sort of internal check not allowing intake pressure to back pressure into the crankcase vent? Have you ever looked into this any more? If you know anything else on this let me know! Thanks!!!

Looks like you have done a good job with the design.The side exhaust will be great for keeping the snowblower clean. The heat from the exhaust also causes the snow to stick to the inside of that area of the blower. I would like to know what the clearance is between the left panel and the dpf. It looks like it needs to be pushed out at least two inches by the riser for the turbo. Also, what is the clearance with the hot side of the turbo and the hood? Thanks Jeff
@HydrosPlus
@HydrosPlus Жыл бұрын
I'll try to show clearances in a future video. The clearance between the hood and turbo is plenty, but I would prefer a bit more between the side and DPF...but it's about the same as the stock muffler.

Great Video ! We did most of those same things when installing mine. Note: We did have to modify that gasket mentioned as well. Shortened the hoses, only current concern is the oil return cap is leaking or seeping a bit, Also it's been rubbing on that radiator hose. The rubbing the radiator hose is the only real concern there. Had it clearing that hose at install, just vibration or what not allowed it to make contact and the RAD hose shows some wear on it. I have adjust it again will see if it stays clear. Is there a reason that return hose is the size that it is. A smaller hose and smaller fittings would make that clearance concern with that RAD hose a bit better.
@HydrosPlus
@HydrosPlus Жыл бұрын
I used the larger hose because a smaller hose is more likely to back up the oil into the turbo under heavy load. It wouldn't hurt anything, but you would get some smoke more often if using a smaller hose.
@terabytejohnson5814
@terabytejohnson5814 Ай бұрын
@@HydrosPlus What could help is a swivel on that oil return cap. This would allow to tighten the cap and the elbow to optimal angles and minimize the axial torque of the large oil return hose on the cap.

Would making a small intercooler make this turbo more efficient? I mean this little thing making enough compressed air to heat the intake air up enough to warrant making a small intercooler? You could actually use some small computer fans lol. Im thinking of tig welding a new exhaust to get that echochamber/ muffler away from the underside of the turbo. Relocating the alternator would help with this mod too.
@HydrosPlus
@HydrosPlus 8 ай бұрын
I'm experimenting with one, but there's very little space to work with and there is a big challenge in getting from the front of the radiator back to the engine bay. A denser air charge would be helpful, but generally I think we're getting enough air into the engine to burn all of the available fuel. So I guess it's time to add more fuel ;)

Have you considered Cerakoting the exhaust parts? I do cerakoting and they have products that take up to 1800 F. and would prevent rusting of those components. Worth checking into. I plan on purchasing one of your turbo kits and will be cerakoting mine when I get mine. Plus it would make it look much better to those wanting the install look more stock.
@HydrosPlus
@HydrosPlus 7 ай бұрын
I have considered it and I'm not ruling it out, but cerakoting is a bit finiky, and I'm worried that longevity of the coating isn't going to be as good as stainless and the cost isn't significantly less for the risk. I'm still looking into it, though.

The challenge has to do with exhaust outlet and intake inlet locations. All of the components will work in theory, but many of the exhaust manifolds for the machines using the same engine outlet in a different location. That throws a wrench into the fitment and adds fabrication to the install.

So watched the video in its entirety, about the pull the trigger but can you clear up the part on adjusting the fuel. There is so much back and forth about this many times removed the adjuster I just don't think its very clear. How many rotations out does the adjuster need to go? Four turns? Five? etc. Also can a person still get the by pass along with the DPF?
@HydrosPlus
@HydrosPlus Жыл бұрын
You can adjust the fuel screw as little or as much as you want, but to get the most power, you need to turn it out as far as possible while still having enough threads holding so that it will stay put. I can't tell you the exact amount, but on my tractor it was about 3.5 to 4 turns and on this tractor it was about 4 to 4.5 turns out. That kept about .75 of a turn in which felt like enough threads to hold it. If in doubt, you can back it all the way out and go 1 full turn in.

Do you need more oil or more frequent oil changes if you do this? Or need or would have to change maintenance in anyway?
@HydrosPlus
@HydrosPlus 7 ай бұрын
I don't recommend (or not recommend) more frequent service interval because most people don't put even 50 hours a year on their machine and JD recommends annual oil changes or 200 hours. Even at 200 hours, I feel like that's a conservative number given how most of these machines are used.

Will it ruin the engine if you don't turn the fuel up? If you don't turn the fuel up will that mean there will be no gain in horsepower? Will the PTO and transmission system handle that much horsepower gain?
@HydrosPlus
@HydrosPlus Жыл бұрын
If you don't turn up the fuel, you will get more power in situations where it blows black smoke now. For example, when you hit a heavy patch of grass (if you mow), and it blows smoke now, if you add the turbo, that fuel will now have the oxygen needed to burn and create power rather than go out the pipe. The trans has a pressure relief valve to protect it, which you can already bypass in high range with a stock tractor...it will just be easier with more power. PTO has a clutch to protect it, but obviously if you thrash it with an implement that is too large, then it's going to wear out faster. If you use properly sized implements, you will likely only slip it when hitting something or creating a shock, which can be done with a stock tractor. As with everything from HydrosPlus, we're empowering the operator to determine the limits rather than the tractor, so you will now have more power to do work if you want, or you can back off and take it easy.

yes, but nothing extensive. The exhaust runs cool without load, but if you labor it long term, it will certainly heat up. I'm working on a pyrometer setup as a future product.

What happens when the turbo bearing goes from lack of lubrication and the engine ingests metal? Then you will realize this tractor was better off the way John Deere designed it. This isn’t proven at all and it will lower longevity. No EGT and no oil temperature gauge you have no idea the damage your doing from over boosting
