I went to their concert in Dallas with my daughter. I been to big rap and rock concerts even country concerts over the past 40 years and they were the best. I even been to Latino artists concerts of some of the biggest Latino artist and none connected with the crowd or gave off energy like them. They made me a huge fan. We had front VIP behind the barrier and got to meet them before the show for a photo. I will always remember the experience of that show in Dallas.

Great answer by Rin @ 12:49. And yes, their first few singles with their collab with H. Zettrio are really good ("Okami no Uta" and "Koinosyadanki" to name a few), very jazzy. Which is why breaking out of that and exploring other genres while keeping to their own style makes them such an awesome group. They're also featured on Maximum The Hormone's "Shimi", and it goes hard. Still bummed I wasn't able to watch their performance earlier this year Manila, but hope they come back soon!

Their energy is so contagious, I've never felt this much joy just by watching them. They're all so attractive and funny as well. I fell in love with Suzuka's personality. My spirits have been drastically lifted ever since I've been in the AG rabbit hole. I'm a new fan of them and I will continue to support them in any way I can. So glad Japanese music is getting a moment outside the cage to interact with the rest of the world, and it's these guys bringing the idolpunk! Weird how coy they are about how the group met/was formed - so many groups are put together by the management (usually managers run bands in Japan, not the other way round like most of the world) and it makes me wonder what we aren't being told - or is it just manufacturing mystery where there is none?
@user-sc3oh1bw4z7 ай бұрын
they are also what you call as "manufactured". just watch their old videos before joining AG. suzuka seemed aiming for idol path. while others were more like dancers/modelling.
@VinceValentine6 ай бұрын
Yeah, I thought that was weird too. No shame in admitting you were cast, they obviously have good energy and have stayed together for 10 years. Most idol groups don't last that long.
@jinggaddi5 ай бұрын
I don't think they hide the fact that they were heading towards that idol path, considering how young they all started joining and auditioning for dance/singing groups. My guess is that during the course of their idol journeys, they somehow met each other, hit it off well, and decided they wanted to make something different that they can call their own. That's why they come off as so different from the usual idol group. It's like they're working within the idol system, but subverting it at the same time. That for me is very punk rock. I guess that's why I really got into them. They have the idol discipline, but fused it with punk rock energy/ethos.
@VinceValentine5 ай бұрын
@@jinggaddi But how much of that punk image is intentionally set up by management and what's authentic?
@user-sc3oh1bw4z4 ай бұрын
@@VinceValentineif look at their old videos, they are far for punk. it is just that their song "seishun wa kirisaku hadou" gives them that punk image. this group just get music from other people, then from what they get, the create the choreography. sometimes they take part in writing lyric too tho. like song "zzz" was written by Mizyu, and song "tomei boy" was written by Rin.

it doesnt matter. their group's name is "atarashii gakkou no leaders" which means "leaders of new school". the red armband is leadership symbol. so they are all leaders. but, if you wanna know, the whole group leader, it is mizyu. they said it in an interview. from old video for tv program that show how they create choreography, it is mizyu who coordinates her friends and has responsibility to taking notes for what they are discussing. sounds like a leader's job right? but still, don't think it too much. this is not kpop group that small matter will become a fight. like for example we don't care about "fair line distribution" too. sure we love if other girls get singing part. but we also know that a dance also main performance, not just unimportant side performance.

××××××××××× This girl group, Atarashii Gakko, is interesting because they are "anti-mainstream" ~~ from the general impression of the entertainment world which is "cute ~ idol ~ fake ~ constrained." They are "girly," but dance and sing freely ~ honestly ~ expressively ~ freely, even as if mocking and criticizing. At least, that's my impression which makes them one of my favorites. For me, for Japanese girl dance group, there is Avantgardey with a similar atmosphere and feel in the world of Japanese modern dance, also one of my favorites.
