This game was ok with default maps, but what made it great was the map editor. First experiences designing my own levels. Too bad we don't get that much in modern games anymore.

Yes, level V is the last. After completing it, you are thrown to level A again.

Well, I just played those which were the most difficult to me! The others are not that interesting. But if you have any particular screen in mind which you cannot complete - please tell me, I may create a completion video for you!

Wow. Gary Gilbertson is the only man on earth who kick the ass of Chris Huelsbeck on 8 bit.

The YM2149 chip was used on both 8-bit computers (MSX, ZX Spectrum) and on the 16-bit Atari ST. And there we have Jochen Hippel, who also kicked the ass of Chris Huelsbeck. Besides making his own great pieces, he arranged the Huelsbeck's Turrican 2 soundtrack in an amazing way, which Chris himself refused at the time.

@@bormisha . Interesting to know. Kind of this articles is written in the german magazine Retro Gamer. I own 1986 an Atari 800 XL and since 1988 the Amiga 500. At this time what me confuse the fact Atari ST got MIDI for music productions, but the sound chip was so poor against the Amiga 5 channel stereo sound. I dont complete remember how to make Atari 800 XL sounds. Type So.: 3,120,10,6

@LifetimeLegend, I wrote an emulator for the Atari Pokey sound chip in 2002 (google: mzpokeysnd). All my Atari videos use that emulator engine for sound. So I kind of can tell you everything about that chip. Just ask.

@@bormisha . Nice to hear. My program skills are poor. It´s just retro hobby. You seemed to be real professional. On the start screen of the Atari 800 XL it was possible to create quick synth sounds. Just type some commands. It start with So: or Sound: Than 5 input parts with comma. One number for sound, one digit for distortion and so on. Not important. ;-)

@LifetimeLegend, yeah, it's possible to program the sound chip from BASIC. Just found and copied a quick description on how: "The easiest way is to use the BASIC "SOUND" command: SOUND c,p,d,v c=channel (0-3) p=pitch (0-255) (0 is highest pitch, sometimes off; 255 is the lowest pitch) d=distortion (0,2,4,6,8,10,12 or 14) (10 is a "pure" tone) v=volume (0-15) " The "Distortion" code is a real diamond here, but to find a way to use it properly, you'd need to read a more detailed description of the sound chip. Basically, you can choose between a pure tone, a 4-bit LFSR sequence ("Atari bass"), a 5-bit LFSR sequence (also "Bass" but more complex and harder to use) and a 17-bit LFSR sequence (noise). You could also activate the high-pass filter and combine two channels to get 16-bit resolution for the pitch generator, but these are all advanced topics.
