Yes, I've heard that famous music, but don't remember its name. It's a classical music by some japanese composer. Only fragments of it can be traced into this Karate song by Rob Hubbard. So the soundtrack of this game is mostly original.

I've played this game long time ago at my friends Atari 800 XL,. Can't forget that COOOOOL times. 1990 maybe? Will never forget,,,

Yeah. As far as I know, Atari graphics and the CPU are even better than those of C64. But many games were made for both platforms or ported to Atari from C64, and that's why they look the same. Check out Wikipedia about the "Dropzone" game, it was initially made for Atari and later ported (with some restrictions) on C64.

Les années 80 sont les plus marquantes , un jeu extraordinaire autant que pour l'animation et le graphisme, de plus une musique sublime .

Head punch isn't available in this game. It exists in the IK+ (see another video on my channel about ZX Spectrum version of it)

Paul, I managed playing this game yesterday quite easy. Got a Rasberry Pi and just downloaded on my Raspbian OS the Atari 800 emulator. Then I just grabbed a copy of this game and it worked. You need just to make some configs in the Atari Emulator itself.

Yes, I agree, the spinning back kick is too slow.

@onlineboxingdotnet actually the atari version looks better. i also prefer the a8 version of the tune.

@coolasshole23 I find that kick impractical and risky, you can be low-kicked while attempting it. I also didn't use a few other punches/kicks (except perhaps incidentally by mistake). Some of them are not very useful.

Awesole game back then, and an early attempt to have simultaneous music and effects sounds.. Is that the PAL version? The NTSC version has faster tempo?
@bormisha3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a PAL version. Also in this one the music is additionally slowed down beyond the 50/60fps difference

i guess there is a big codeline of programation in this game... just collision with hits are complex... great game to be for the atari hehe.. basic is powerful too ..

Why's the music slow here? I had IK when I was a kid, and my first reaction on seeing this was that the music is *much* slower than I remember it. I've checked other uploads which sound okay, so it's not my memory playing tricks. (No, this isn't a PAL vs. NTSC timing issue. I played the original UK PAL release on my PAL Atari. Even if that version was playable on an NTSC system, the music (and timing) would likely be *faster*, not slower).
@bormisha9 жыл бұрын
+NotATube True, in the "World Karate" the music is substantially slower than in the "International Karate". I don't know why but it seems consistent with all the versions I've seen. Perhaps the authors decided to slow it down. I actually like it more this way.

Karateka was originally developed for Apple 2 computers and then ported to many other platforms. There is also a version for Atari 800. There are many videos related to Karateka out there. I also like it but I didn't make one myself because I tried to record only the games for which there were no decent letsplays online yet.
