I wanna apologies to my parents for having to endure these bleeps & bloops. It never bothered me as a kid, but now it pains my old man ears.

I remember the arcade cabinet of super sprint with the steering wheel. And this one guy who was a master of it, had this technique for a particular track. He could basically keep his foot on the accelerator, and never touch the brake. Then would rotate the wheel 180 to the left and skid half way around the track, then 180 to the right and slide the other half. I was always amazed watching that but deep down resenting him, because he got waaaay longer out of his turn than me lol

That Realsports Tennis actually looked like a pretty good sports game for Atari standards. Much better than the basketball or soccer games they played earlier.

2600 Asteroids - the asteroids don't show up if you're watching at 30fps!

Does anyone else think about how this was ALL the video games we had at one point? How far we've come! Just think someone out there genuinely played championship soccer for fun not nostalgia.

"Race" is actually Indy 500. I believe it was the only game that used "driving controls" basically paddles.

I cannot believe Atari got away with releasing a port of the mainframe Star Trek game under the title Stellar Track. That's hilarious.

Am I crazy or were there no asteroids on screen during the home version of Asteroids?
@MontyDotharl8 жыл бұрын
drew081886 Turn on 60 FPS mode for the video. The asteroid sprites are flickering just right to go invisible at 30 FPS.
@Tlop048 жыл бұрын
You need to be on the 60FPS version or they won't show up.
@drew0818868 жыл бұрын
Oh, okay. I was watching on my TV and I don't think there is an option for 60fps mode on the TV app. At least I know what was going on though. Thanks.

Why doesn't Asteroids have the backdrop?
@TitanIsBack8 жыл бұрын
Interesting how some games didn't capture correctly. Missing sprites and all.
@MontyDotharl8 жыл бұрын
TitanIsBack they're capturing fine. The issue is that those sprites are flickering just right to go invisible when the video gets knocked down to 30 FPS. I just noticed it in the 2600 version of Asteroids- it looked like Jeff was shooting at nothing. But when I turned on 60 FPS mode, all the asteroids appeared.

I missed it during "Asteroids" - must've just had it playing in another tab while I was doing something else - but I thought it was funny how "Night Driver" gave you either the road markers or the on-coming traffic, but not both.

I had a PC Atari collection in the 1990's and you would think that trackball games would have just had mouse control but NOPE all arrow keys.

Seriously---why doesn't someone just make a 20 dollar retro stick controller for modern consoles?? I enjoyed the atari flashback 2 console but ended up using the controllers on my heavy six. What's nice about this compilation is that its HD and that it has the right game aspect ratio for big tvs......

I didn't quite piece it together until watching this Quick Look, but both halves are the "Atari Vault", available on Steam. Atari Vault is the same emulation, same interface (just a handful more menu screens), same games, but only $20 on Steam, while these two packages are $20 each. So basically they figured they could screw over Console players with this release.
@Tamacat3888 жыл бұрын
The extra $20 was probably to pay for the touchpad support on PS4. Yea thats it.
@RonnieBarzel8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how long it will be at that price, but "Atari Vault" is on sale for just $10 on Steam right now.

moon patrol? anyone? basically from both collections there are about 10 games that are amazing arcade classics that hold up and the rest are disasters of games that should be forgotten. Because they did their job of teaching people how not to program or create a game.
