Man, GameRoom had so much potential.

I still go back and watch the video of Jeff tricking Ryan into a game room QL, its a classic and still hilarious.
@psychicsandwich77 жыл бұрын
It's actually really cool to watch this video and have Jeff explain these games because I bought this package and had no idea what to do or what was even going on about 90% of the time.

Quadrun released back in 1983 as part of a limited promotion as a mail-away game in the Atari Club, so it was definitely released officially.

Damn some of these Atari games are pretty awesome

There was a centipede cabinet in my dentist's office, but the vertical movement of the trackball didn't work at all so you had to stay at the bottom of the screen the entire game. Seeing Jeff play and move around vertically is blowing my mind.

"Jets, Guided Missiles, No Clouds" is probably the "Fox Only, Final Destination, No Items" of its day.

I still prefer Jeff's take on X-com heavies only no med kits!
@hazy336 жыл бұрын
Thankyou for this thorough look at all the games. That takes some dedication. In the UK the was the spectrum computer and a company called Cascade made the Cassette 50. A compilation of 50 games on one tape cassette for £9.99 about $16 back then. All were completely rubbish. So whether it's one game or 50 you're still paying for utter trash. Exactly like these Atari comps. You are doing a public service.

There is no terminal velocity on the moon. Damn it Brad, you're supposed to be the resident science officer! Mr.Spock shakes his head in disapproval
@Callico_7 жыл бұрын
Surely there must be a terminal velocity on the moon, obviously slower than earth atmosphere's terminal velocity. "A constant speed that a freely falling object eventually reaches when the resistance of the medium through which it is falling prevents further acceleration."
@peterchartier33877 жыл бұрын
Calico Terminal velocity is the velocity at which the resistance of the air equals the acceleration of gravity. On the moon, there is no air to slow you, so you will keep accelerating all the way down at 1.62 m/s/s

I love the 2600. Got all 3 flashbacks, tho flashback 3 is albout the 5200. Still good stuff. Millipede and centipede are my fave.

They should have pictures of the cabinets in a gallery, like on the Dreamcast Atari collection game, so Brad would know the type of button layout games had.
@RonnieBarzel7 жыл бұрын
At $20 each, I may buy these, but Game Room and older collections have really hammered home that so many of my favorite games (e.g. Missile Command, Tempest, Warlords) just don't play well without their non-joystick controls.
@Guernicaman7 жыл бұрын
Didn't some of these vector-graphics games have like a pictured background that was part of the inside of the cabinet?
@BurtonRadons7 жыл бұрын
Boy, what a throwback! This sure brings back memories. Of the days before readily-available ROMs and emulators made it necessary to offer more value to these releases, like control bindings, leaderboards, save states, or basic information like when a game was released and what it was on. And why aren't games listed in alphabetical order?
@RonnieBarzel7 жыл бұрын
Burton Radons They do appear to be in alphabetical order, going top to bottom, from left to right. I'm guessing that's why Jeff and Brad saw Combat 2 (top of right column on first screen), but missed the original Combat at the bottom of the middle column. (Should say: I'm not yet done with the video, so they may eventually see it includes Combat.)

The graphics of today's games are just incredible... You cannot compare them to the primitive graphics of these classical games... Yet, I'd rather play the primitive classics any day instead of the ones released in 2020! The whole family used to gather around these games, and it was possible to simply choose multi-player to literally have tons of fun! Nowadays, for multi-player games, you need two xbox ones, two Tvs, two original games and two subscriptions to just have some fun... Not to mention how complex the menus have become, all in the name of profit!

What’s the name of the Tanks game?! I remember having games of tanks. 2 player and 1single big tank in the middle. Do you know the name of those please?
@talon120207 жыл бұрын
Activision's Starmaster is the superior version(clone) of Star Raiders for the 2600. Also, these games seem to run faster than I remember them ever running on the original hardware.
@TheRealAmericanMan3 жыл бұрын
Very very very late here but Black Widow and Robotron 2084 released the same year and Black Widow is the VASTLY superior game. Also Atari Liberator was released in 1982 as well and is for it’s time a graphical powerhouse. Literally no other game looks or plays like it does and it’s primitive line scrolling faux polygonal flat textured worlds are still a wonder for their hardware.

Even as a kid in the mid 80s, I knew these games were horrible. When the NES came out it was this realization that video games wouldn't be a constant torrent of awful shit.

Cold Monkey Basically every console generation. Keep in mind that the split between Atari Corp. and Atari Games means there are two companies with "Atari" catalogs to repackage into retrospectives like this, so you will see "collection of Atari games!" twice as often as normal.
