In this video, with the help of a Former Hasbro Employee and self proclaimed Atari Historian, we discuss what the key events were for Atari during its time under the Hasbro Interactive brand. We do use clips from our 40 minute interview with Jayson Hill and it was so great to get the chance to chat with him! I'd like to thank Jayson for the interview and reading over the script before I started the video. You can check out the full review by clicking the link below!

The Atari Network has 3 goals (besides entertainment) that I hope embodies everything the channel does:
1. Bring awareness to Atari, especially the often ignored Tramiel and 7800 era
2. Make sure the hardworking people both new and old (from the old guard at Atari corp to the new developers keeping Atari alive) get the recognition that they deserve for their hard work
3. Preserve the history of Atari in the video game hobby so that it survives long after us
Check out my written reviews and all of Vinnies 20 years of hard work here

Thanks for watching and please subscribe. It does way more than you'll ever know for me.

You're definitely right that most of us never equated Hasbro with the Atari brand. The Jayson Hill interview was very informative and a fun listen. Thanks for the follow up!

Agreed. They could've held onto the rights and tried to find a way to profit but instead they tried to do what's right by the community. Very rare for most companies then and now!

While I have great knowledge and awareness of Atari from 1972-1996 and 2020-present, I know nothing about the 1997-2019 period. Your videos are super informative with info I never knew. Thanks.

Thank you. I'm trying to make a complete, even if somewhat basic, record of these times that are missing for so many of us. So I'm glad that the videos seem to be doing just that. Hopefully we can dig up more interesting and fun stuff from Ataris history!

A lot of the stuff from this era feels like the kinda games that should have been coming out on the Jaguar.

I had the boxed PC version of Pong: The Next Level sitting upside down on my entertainment center many years ago. My wife looked at it and asked, "What's buod?" That is probably my deepest connection to Hasbro Atari. I do remember the hoopla around them releasing the Jaguar into the public domain, but I did not remember them doing the same with the Lynx.

I do hope we some day see some of those Atari PlayStation remakes of Pong, Breakout and Centipede get rereleased or put in Atari 50 or something That would be cool

I am quite a fan of Hasbro Interactive's Retro remakes and I happen to own all of their titles on PC with their original boxes. While they weren’t the same as the classic arcade games, the developers Hasbro commissioned surely tried their best. I would have to say that Hasbro did release some titles under the banner that weren’t exactly related to Atari or retro gaming in general too. They released the PC and PlayStation versions of The Next Tetris, the PlayStation port of Glover and Nerf Arena Blast under the Atari brand. On the topic of Frogger 2 and Pac-Man Adventures in Time, they were meant to be released under the Atari banner, but were instead released as standard Hasbro Interactive products. There’s a leftover video file of the Hasbro-era Atari logo on the Dreamcast version of Frogger 2.

I hope the new Atari will give the Hasbro era some love. Now that they own Digital Eclipse & Nightdive, it would be fun to see either of those studios to port the games of that period properly for today’s platforms. Pong: The Next Level and PSX’s Breakout are hidden gems (never played PSX’s Centipede though). Really enjoyed those games’ witty cartoony humor, very Rareware-esque. It’s a shame Atari SA sold off the rights of Glover, it would be great to see new Atari getting their hands on that IP again, have Glover 2 to be finished and get an official release.

I think they should have release some Atrai games for the TurboGrafx16. Maybe we will see a homebrew version of Atari Karts for the Analogue Duo (Supergrafx Duo).

What if there’s a collaboration between Atari and hello kitty and friends? Imagine the merchandise including plush toys, t-shirts, hats, remakes of Atari classic games for Atari 2600 and multiple systems starring hello kitty and friends, the hello kitty and friends X Atari collection for multiple systems.

The hello kitty and friends X Atari collection for multiple systems includes the classic arcade versions of Atari classic games plus the Atari 2600 versions and hello kitty and friends versions. Imagine badtz Maru in centipede, kuromi in haunted house, hello kitty in save Mary, chococat in asteroids, and more.

Was it Hasbro that re-released Frogger on the SNES? If they did, why did they skip all the music in that game?
@TheAtariNetwork
@TheAtariNetwork 2 ай бұрын
So the SNES and Genesis Frogger was done by Morningstar Multimedia and published by Majesco in 1998. Frogger was not owned by Hasbro so they both appear to have licensed the properties and released games on different platforms from what I can tell...
