I had this jittering with wtih similar card gbs8200 and ZX-Spectrum. I could fix it and had static nice image. I just put variable resistor between ground and sync legs, left bottom corner on (8:42). My resistor is 1mOM, which is probably big, but anyway you adjust it manually until image jumping goes away. Let me know if helps.

It is not recommended to combine syncs with a jumper. Should use a sync combiner or an AND gate.

You shouldn't short HS an VS directly... you should have create a simple circuit to combine them - you may either use 2 resistors and a npn transistor, or 4 XOR gates (4070/74HC86).

+tzok83 seems a lot of effort Vs the later boxes that seem to work out of the box (and come in a box!). Do you see any advantages using this hardware over other things? Perhaps there are some useful features

This one should introduce a slightly less delay in image processing, and also has some image adjustments (V-pos, H-pos). But eventually I've also chosen SCART-HDMI converter, yet I'm using it with a HDMI-VGA converter ;)

+tzok83 I recently picked up an LCD TV with native 1080p and it's start RGB input is flawless. I guess they finally got to using the exact same quality of panels in TVs and monitors.

I bought an older revision of this board but sold it in the end; it just looked like too much hassle to get it working without any issues. I instead stuck with an older solution involving a Supera Color HD convertor box, along with a Practical Solutions Monitor Master mono / colour mode switch box. It was an untidy solution with a mess of cables, but the image quality was totally stable and pretty decent on the whole.

+EgoShredder yesterday I just tried a scart rgb to HDMI converter and it was flawless and simple. Cost less and came in a nice box. That's the way to go 😂

backofficeshow I know this is a year old, and it's a different video, but would one of those scart to HDMI boxes work alright in NTSC regions, with an NTSC ST? I don't have an ST yet (speaking of getting one - lots of people are charging ridiculous prices - even when they're untested!), but if I do get one, I'd like a video solution sorted out already. I'd use one for MIDI sequencing and the synth editors you can get, so it only really makes sense to get a real ST or something like the MiST computer with an ST core.

I kinda think they would as most TV sets seem to handle most formats. Still I have to admit I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure if I was designing a hdmi adaptor I'd make it compatible with everything. The RGB out is probably pretty universal

Just getting started on all this. Bit confused about the Vertical sync only being used so you had to jumper the Horizontal together with it? If I came in with composite sync on the the two H and V would that work? You Brits were so cutting edge here. I might just get the board, try all the KZbin suggestions and have a go at it. Thanks very much for your effort.

You could try using an LM1881 sync separator to split the syncs out

I've had arcade boards outputting pure 15KHz RGB, Master System II's modded for RGB output via Sync over Composite and Composite SYNC and even my C64 working through them on psuedo S-VIDEO. If anything can help, it's those boxes.

The Scart, HDMI setup has just the slightest bit of delay and the screen is slightly off center. Although it is the best so far that I have found. Love your Vids, nicely done

This is NOT a piece of crap. Your issues are NOT power related. The GBS8200 only actually draws 0.4 amps in operation. Most of the issues you are seeing are due to the fact that you are driving the board too hot. That is you need to trim the input voltage from the TTL levels of the Atari down to the modern 3.3v levels of the GBS8200. Use a level shifter like this one. www.sparkfun.com/products/12009 This needs to go between the Atari's sync signal and the GBS8200's sync input. This is the best solution, though you can get by with putting a 680 Ohm resistor inline with the sync signal.

+Christopher Gaul it's more expensive than units that work flawlessly and output HDMI, there may be some use case for it but why bother messing with it?
