Im happy with mine. I really like the recent recharged series and they include extra challenges. I dont expect it to be a switch. More games on the way and im happy with mine.

This to me is basically Jaguar 2.0, complete with the borderline hilarious apologists for the AtariOS end of things. It being a PC hybrid is probably its one saving grace though, and it makes for a very stylish Batocera or RetroArch machine, even if you could get more power per $ going with a “normal” mini PC. That’s not to say anyone’s wrong for enjoying it, but I think even so you have to admit that this thing overpromised and under-delivered. Which, to be fair, is probably the most authentic Atari experience money can buy.

The gpu is vega 3 which is never was designed for 1080p even 720p is too much for it

Having it play media is crucial for me to actually buy it. A media player is definitely needed.

Well, it streams Netflix and Spotify and whatnot on the Atari OS and boots as a Linux or Windows PC, too. So are you saying that you would need the VCS to play media specifically on the Atari OS or it's a no-go? Maybe because you want to listen to your own tunes while you game?

@@esperago I have a computer attached to the tv in the living room and we watch movies off an external HD. I would consider replacing the computer with the VCS to do the same as well as play the included games. I know I could install windows on it, but I was hoping there was a media player in the VCS main application just to make it easy to do both movie playing and games

No, I wouldn't say so. It's super handy for a Plex server, and it's extremely light weight and portable. Plus, I think it's great that it's loaded with classics

Wow. This is your review after having the Atari VCS for a year? First, what do expect after not turning your console for months? A two second update?. Second, why did you only chose Aery? Everyone knows Aery is not the best game for the Atari VCS. You totally ignore Asteroids or any of the Recharge series game. If you are reviewing a console, you clearly need to do your homework. This is the reason why many KZbinrs criticized your other two Atari VCS review.

Well obviously not everyone knows, because I didn't. Like I said, I picked at random. I also mentioned that I didn't want only future-retro games, and that buying only one new game wasn't enough. You're not saying anything new, here

i have nothing negative to say about the new atari vcs i'm very positive about it sure it's not perfect even all video game companies with hardware is not prefer either they do make improvements later on even if they are big or small company i'm pretty sure atari listening to feedback not lying that are telling the truth getting software games what want takes time it's not easy to do this new atari is a small companies atari coo did say in the atari vcs interview they want to take baby steps walk before they run making more improvements i'm ok with that i don't mind and i still love what they are doing i think it's a great underrated system i had a blast with my atari vcs i'm not disappointed at all that's just my honest unpopular opinion but thanks sharing how you truly feel about it i respect your opinion.

@@Josh-ce9sv It is still incredibly buggy. I've had mine for 6 months now and the Atari OS has be nonfunctional for about 7 weeks of that time due to bugs. PC mode works fairly well once I got Windows 10 Pro installed along with the 1 TB SSD and 32 GB RAM. I even have it running dual monitors in Windows. There Atari OS is really still in beta testing and I've never had so many problems with a piece of technology.

@@bobbyrivera2951 consoles have had web browsers since the Sega Saturn. The Sega Dreamcast, Wii, PS2, PS3, Xbox360, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo DS, PSP, Nintendo 3DS, and Xbox Series X all have web browsers too. In the case of Dreamcast, PS2, PS3, and all the Xboxes you are also able to connect a keyboard and mouse. If older consoles can do it, why can't the Switch? Also don't try and argue that a small touchscreen is better than a TV and keyboard+mouse. Goofy.

Yeah I just bought mine off ebay for £315 .. and yeah get me a time machine so I can go back I've even chucked ram and sata drive in it .. stupidly deleted efi folders installing windows 10 .. got atari os recovered bios flash os to hard drive and now can't log in got nothing on app stores or anything.. I've basically got a 💩 pc lol .. if it was more then what it was I wouldn't of installed windows and I wouldn't be in situation
