I'm glad you found them helpful. Thanks for the feedback. It was a lot of work to make these videos and I did it so that it won't take some of you as long to learn how to make these repairs as it took me. All my videos so far are on the ATC 110s. I plan to do some later in the year on the ATC 185 or 200 as I have a couple of these that need work. What do you have?

Great video very informative. I have a question. I have a 1979 ATC 110 that I need to split the case and replace the bearing that's directly behind the front main drive chain sprocket. Do I have to disassemble the clutch side housing, or can I just disassemble the cam chain side take the bolts off and split the main case? Or is there something holding it that I'm not seeing?

I've never tried splitting the cases without removing the clutch parts. I can't think of why you can't do it. Why don't you give it a try and post here if you could do it? While you are there, I'm sure you are going to replace those two drive sprocket oil seals. They often leak. Also the shift shaft oil seal often leaks and can make a mess on your garage floor.

@@SoCalBruce thanks for responding so fast . I did order both transmission bearings and the seal right behind the primary chain drive sprocket. I had already replaced the seal on the Left End of the crank in the cam chain housing area, back when I thought the noise was coming from the cam chain. I know if I do both bearings I'll probably have to pull the clutch assembly. But just the bearing behind the sprocket I might could just disassemble the left side. Doesn't hurt to try. Thanks again.

@@SoCalBruce well, it's possible. I pulled the left side down and split the case. It went pretty well. Don't forget to unscrew the shift indicator pin. Once inside however, all looked great. Bearings were good. Hhmmm... this annoying grinding sound. I think I finally located it. The rear end axle nuts were loose. How'd I miss that? Dang, after all this? Oh well. Now I know how to do it. Waiting on seals, put it back together. Everything in me believed the grinding noise was coming from the top end. Live to fight another day.

Have you torn it down yet. Could be the shift mechanism or forks. Let me know what part you need and if I have it, I'll post it on ebay for you.

What tool is that you used to pull out the screws? I may need to order one
@SoCalBruce9 жыл бұрын
+98tjc It's an impact screwdriver. You will be glad you bought it. I don't see how you can get those tight phillips head screws out without this tool. You would round out the heads, then drill them out risking damaging the cases and you still have to get the screw shaft out of the case. I got mine at Home Depot. You can also get them at Harbor Freight or your local auto supply store.
