You know what is great about following certain channels? The progression you all make. I've been at it watching you, steveo1, flight chops, Greg at P1, Mr aviation101 which is now just aviation 101 and others like fly8ma from way-way back. I love learning about all the new advances like your IFD550, my Skyhawk in 1972 sure didn't have that good stuff. Just the gages from the factory in 1966. That shout out was neat.

Great video. Like your camera positions. New toy explanation. When I got my twin rating I was told not to raise the gear until usable runway was gone. Good to be recognized by your viewers. Fly safe.

Usable runway is much less then people realize. Look at the POH for distance required to land over a 50’ obstacle and then add for no flaps and any additional altitude. My personal opinion is I rather have the extra speed in a twin. Speed is life. If I have to gear up I am ok with that.

I enjoyed all the new descriptions of the Avidyne IFD550. I know everyone wants more camera shots, but in this one with no passenger in the right seat, a close up camera picking up the 2 Avidynes and the audio panel would be fantastic (maybe even an iPhone aft of the right control yoke. Again, great videos.

I just have a quick question that may be relevant or not. Does the 550 have TCAS as a function or maybe it is not necessary for you? Have fun with your new Bose headset and new toys. I appreciate your reply and thought. Altitude was always my goal but I began to check the POH and went from there. I got to fly in a MU-2. Was looking into one then decided if I went to a twin the Cessna Skymaster was the answer. Flew a few of those but never purchased one. Got my twin rating in a Cessna 310. Flew Beechcraft, Cessna and Piper too. Did the gear as you do. Now fly a non retractable single Cessna 182. Thank you for your info. Side note, your going to have to put Lou See back in the right seat unless she now qualifies for the left seat. Fly safe.

Blows my mind all the features of modern avionics! I just got my first land based GPS 5 years ago, lol (not big on tech - I still have a flip phone ... AND a VCR! 😁), so I'm still getting used to that. Good thing they don't use the same software for aviation, or we'd have planes headed the wrong direction all over the planet ... 😂 You're movin' up the KZbin ladder, Chris! Gettin' shoutouts from ATC now - pretty sweet. I don't know why you're not at 100k subs ... but I predict that's going to come very quickly. 😎 LOVE that belly cam! Baron pilot, mount that IPAD on the center of the dual yoke, below the power controls, low enough so you can to the gear and flaps. I would think if you split the cross bar with the middle of the IPAD it would be sweet. Nice video, Paul

Question......I'm always interested in how things work. In reference to your new Avidyne 550, in the synthetic view mode are the views pre-programmed into the unit (much like Google maps and such) or is there a sensor on board the aircraft giving you "realtime" vision? Also, I VERY rarely have any kind of complaint toward your videos. But in this video it would have been nice if you could have had a closer shot of your Avidyne during its operational demonstrations. Just an observation. :-)

Did you use the Boeing Banana to make the crossing restriction? I got to play with that on a trip last month. Neat tool. I kept hearing Orsky on the Avidyne forum rant about it but when they actually included it in the 10.2.1 update, really cool.

I did pull the prop back to 2400rpm and the mixtures are leaned in the climb and once I level off. I just don’t always show when I lean the mixtures.

Hi Bro, I just love your videos man. They are damn good. I'm actually planning to buy a good headset for my flying training. I'm confused between the bose 320 and pro flight. I heard that the pro flight is not good for piston engine aircrafts like cessna. What's your opinion on proflight for cessna aircraft's. Which one do you really suggest?. Personally, I really like the ProFlights. But I also prefer light weight headsets. They say the A20’s are quieter but when I switched headsets mid flight I did not find that to be the case.

Thanks! I don’t have a yaw damper but you would engage it after takeoff and disengage it before landing.

When you say that the charts are in the 550 are available on the IFD100 are they available from the database on the 550 or do you need to have the JEPPESEN database installed onto your iPad? The issue at hand, is that there are three partners in the aircraft and if there is a way to share the 550 charts on to the IFD 100 that would be great. Other than that, everyone would need to buy separately a subscription for the Jepp charts? is that correct?

Yea you download the charts and nav data to the iPad/IFD100. I believe The subscription does include 2 iPad downloads. If you have three partners, you could consider making one iPad part of the airplane. Obviously it would need access to internet for the updates.

Hi there. Just came across your channel as I plan to buy the Bose Proflight 2. So far, yours is one of the few channels where I see you wearing this headset on a piston. I'm also flying general aviation but some say it may not be suitable due to the noise. You're flying a twin so I'd expect the noise to be far higher that a Piper PA-38 so could I have your honest feedback please if this headset would be suitable?

​@@yingzhousong3921 Hi there. I spoke to Bose directly and they strongly advised me *not* to get a Proflight 2 for Single Engine Piston because of the noise. So, I bought an A20 which is perfect so I strongly recommend you get that. I think Bose upgraded it to an A30 now though.

It’s just the lack of a grounding cable on the recording device. It’s not in the airplane.
