ATC Frequency Changes Between Centers or Approach | AvGeek Brief | ATC En Route Handoffs

I used to be intimidated by contacting larger air traffic control facilities. I also avoided using Flight Following so I didn't have to worry about being handed off to another controller when en route. Well... I got over it (eventually) and decided to make a little video on what to do when your handed off to another frequency. It's really not as bad as I initially thought!

Great information. I remember coming across this problem on my first cross-country solo. They told me to contact Miami Center. I tuned into their frequency but then didn't know what to say. After a minute of thinking I said something like "Hello Miami".

If you're just monitoring just change frequencies. You're not under control of any kind. Sometimes you may hit the wrong frequency though. They often have several frequencies based on different segments of the sky.
