This is a wonderful example of the concept, and very well demonstrated. But you've undervalued the strength of your Neomags. That magnetic field is shooting out of both faces of your mags, more coils = more juice. Lengthen your shaft,and add pulleys, connecting it to your turbine. ( I'd try a vertically mounted shaft, its simple, and catches wind from any direction. ) Good job!! Keep up the effort. This could used very well as an educational tool for all sorts of folks. A second coil ring would double the output. And: air coils need much more speed, but acrylic glas will not withstand the fly wheel forces. However trying to drive a motor rated 250W without a load doesn't prove anything. Try to put a shunt resistor of say 0.01Ω in series. Then you should measure a voltage drop of around 2.5V @ 250W by using Ohm's law. I am pretty sure your system will produce not more than 0.7V or 70W. But I like your design. It looks so easy and clear.

yes it would. but if you look at the design of the coil and the pattern, you will be able to see why the voltage of AC is low, like 22V AC. its because its not in the correct design to produce higher AC voltages. coils are meant to be round or square shaped and not the way he designed it. if the coils were designed correctly and in the square or round order or design, the output would be much higher, as long as he used full speed, which he didn't, which did not show the maximum, since he used full speed on the motor and not the meter.

This design does not exploit the full flux potential of the magnets by not providing flat mild steel return flux back plates. If that was done, the air gap flux linking the serpentine coil would be much greater and would produce substantially more power output. This modification would not introduce cogging torque.

From the dynamo you get 1.3A 22V, the fact that the 12V 250W motor works does not mean that the dynamo has a power of 250W. The presented Dynamo/generator has approximately 20W. Show current consumption test.

I like this generator. Can you provide a parts list like the color you used to connect the 2 stators? It would have been nice if you had shown how the magnets are positioned in the stator for thoughts that don't know how to do it. In my case, I do know and would like to let everyone else know. Each magnet is placed alternating the poles. The first hole is North and the next is South then North and so on. One thing to keep in mind is that the poles on the other stator need to be aligned so that the south pole on one disc is alined with the north pole on the other disc. I hope this helps thoughts that were not sure how the magnets are placed.

Great idea.A+ for effort ,C- for implementation, sorry, but you are only taking advantage of a small amount of the available force of those expensive neo-mags. The advantage of the axial flux field is that you have wasted half the available energy in the system. You need too wind up at least two(2) more sets of coils for the outer faces of the mags.. Make sure the offset angles compliment the intersection of the mag fields, in order to minimize "mag-lock", and to smooth out rotational resistance. Just an idea.. LITTLE MORE COPPER; LOTS MORE JUICE,.?.

You should wind the coil vertically outside the magnets. Which should also be wound vertically. That way you will get more volts. Pretty much 10 times. Because the coil needs to have almost zero 45degree points. In your coil there is a lot. Do it again. As I said. And see.

I agree. and the way the magnets are facing is both incorrect and improper. to get the most voltage, like my DIY generator, the magnets must spin inside the coil at the closest range possible, and must spin sideways inside a round coil at the highest speed possible, which is possible using a DC brushed motor of 12 to 24V DC.

I have made a 3 phase axial flux generator with 3 stators and 32 3x1cm N52 magnets. there is plenty of vodeos on youtube but essentially just connect coil 1,4 - 2,5 and 3, 6 together. Use a rectiier and split the one connection to each rectifier.

its AC power. when you spin the magnets near a coil at close range, you generate AC. but his design did not output that much AC voltage, because the way the magnets are facing is incorrect and outputs far less power than having it spin inside the coil, which in this case its not positioned properly. he also needs to use a DC motor with significant speed, because the drill motors don't have enough speed for significant output. and here is the answer for you, its AC power.

Yeah, I'm calling bullshit. Just because you made a 250w motor move doesn't mean your generator is making 250w! You made ~22v and have wire that looks to be around 20-18awg, so roughly 2amp capacity? Am I wrong on the gauge? If I'm right, you've got something in the neighborhood of 50w output. Spin that much over 3k rpm and make sure you're not standing in the path of those magnets.

i dont like ac generators because if you want a perfect 60hz you need to set the rpms just right for it to work right but its a trade off if you wan to charge batteries dc generator is cheaper but of you want to power modern technology ac is cheaper. with ac you need diodes to charge batteries but with dc you need a inverter. overall ac is cheaper
