@@Yxsmiiyu sorry a little late (and i highly suggest you read the book…1894 is the book that this comeback parallels so i don’t want to spoil it for you) however if you want the answer go ahead and read on- 1984 is a dystopian novel written by george orwell where the plot is set in a controlled and oppressed society. the things that aren’t allowed are human emotion, music, entertainment, etc, in order to keep the citizens complacent. much like in this music video, ateez is breaking out of the new world that’s oppressing music, emotions, and creativity- which is likely why the two are put into parallel a lot. hope that helped!

people said the "eyes in the sky" could be a reference to 1984 because in that novel the government, also call as "big brother" is watching and monitoring for "wrong" being of citizens, including resistance movement against the government. im not sure if all of that is true but ill be reading the novel this weekend. the guerrilla logo was obviously a reference to the dystopian SF movie "Metroplis"

Ok so I read 1984 a while back so I don't remember that much. I can see an inspiration especially in the "mind control" theme which probably references "big brother" (you know the dude who is seemingly "in control" of the organisation). And I guess the aesthetic of the MV is somewhat how the world is described in the novel. As far as I can remember there was also an underground resistance group involved.

Oh yeah, definitely read 1984 in high school, and it was scary for sure. And like you said, it's kinda relevant, yep very much so, and that makes 1984 even scarier. I just got turned onto Ateez a few weeks ago, another reaction channel was checking out some of their videos, and I really liked their voices and videos. So I wrote them down on my list of Kpop groups to check out, then heard they were having this comeback. I'm already sold on them now after hearing this song and watching this amazing video. Guess I'm about to Alice In Wonderland it down the Ateez rabbit hole. 😂 I might need some help navigating it y'all. 🤣

5:20 The painting part has actually been compared (by Atiny who are smarter than me :) to the painting Liberty Leading the People by Eugène Delacroix, which depicts the French Revolution!
