and when I tell you the true meaning of Illusion is actually super dark and fucked up: basically they're being held in a dream like state, forced to live in an infinite loop where they just die over and over again. there's ateez screaming "let me free" in the chorus. "the blue sun is blinding blinding blinding" and "what day is it? where am I? who are you?" to which the captor responds with "don't worry about it, just keep partying all night long". one of hongjoong's lines actually says "dying and living, it keeps on repeating, but no one is forced to make sense of it all". with their whole pirate/peter pan theme, this is their version of living forever. the voice at the end saying "wake up" is what snaps them out of it. it's really creepy tbh 😅

Yea the song is connected with the storyline and if you watch carefully you can see the mask, and even the black outfit guy. And yeah in illusion they are dreaming, thats why the place they are at looks like a animated place.

I can say that it is one of the closest and most accurate explanation of ATEEZ storyline although it may not have that many views, the fact that one of these videos got a comment from the actual KQ Entertainment channel is enough so you should watch it😉. Illusion and wave were the summer bops that finally gave a chance for atinys to breathe after all the hardcore previous comebacks. I didn't see anyone comment this but with wave and illusion atinys were given a preview of both songs before the comeback and we had to vote for the one we liked. The song with the most votes was declared the title track for the comeback and wave won. I personally prefeerred illusion but thanks to wave ateez were able to get their first music show win. Speaking of win can y'all react to the win live performance map the treasure @ Seoul it's one of my favorite and a very iconic performance

Utopia has a similar vibe as these songs, you'll like it. All their B side tracks are more chill. I recommend Mist ( my favorite b side the vocals will blow you away ), light ( yunhos falsetto ) , Desire ( they have a live stage, wow), Dazzling light ( so pretty), Fever ( has a live stage).

*Welcome to my very long theory* (note that is only my theory) My theory: Ateez are time and dimension traveling pirates looking for a treasure but got stuck in a time loop when they found the treasure and went insane and keeps killing each other so their past selves (colored ateez) is trying to fix it but are following the same pattern but *Wooyoung* realized it so he keeps sabotaging everything. The story starts with *Into: Long Journey* _It can complete us or it can destroy us_ _And it can change the world_ _People call it _*_treasure_* And then *Treasure* which pretty much says they want to find the treasure. Say my name is actually a prequel for Pirate King where they realized that the other ateez went insane. _"The past me is burning up now We don't want no trouble Just moving forward"._ *Hongjoong* also held the trumpet used in Hala-hala. Notice that in the MV, there are lots of doorways which might lead to other times or dimensions. The papers they're researching might also be locations or coordinates to the treasure which is why *Wooyoung* is destroying it. *Wooyoung* also said _"Yes sir, I answer to your call"_. The sir referenced might be the masked guy in Answer trying to help pr destroy ateez. It then transitioned to Hala-hala, which tells the story of the masked ateez. In *Illusion*, everyone is getting sidetracked and hallucinating. *Jongho:* _1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days_ _I don't know what day is it today_ *Seonghwa:* _Where am I? Who are you? I've never felt this way before_ *Hongjoong:* _This is paradise. I don't know, let's just party all night long_ *Wooyoung* almost got sidetracked but the masked guy keeps influencing him. *Wooyoung:* _"From somewhere someone is talking to me"_ *Seonghwa* also said the same line which means he's also waking up from the illusion but he might be a bad guy (more to that later). At the end of the MV, someone (might be wooyoung) said _Open your eyes and Seonghwa woke up thus starting Wave. *Wave* In wave they're all starting to wake up from the illusion but is still not fully awake. *Yunho:* _Still together though we don't know where we're going_ *Yeosang:* _Remember, remember, remember_ *Wooyoung's* only line is _Think, think, think_ In Wonderland, *Wooyoung's* only line means _"The door of truth is opening"_ but the others keep encouraging everyone to go in especially Hongjoong and Seonghwa. They also kept *Wooyoung* from sabotaging everything by chaining him up. Notice that Hongjoong keeps getting more aggressive as the songs progress and keeps pushing everyone to find the treasure. *San:* _"Are you just gonna stop here? What you wanted so badly is right here."_ *Jongho:* _"Even if we ever can't go back, We must going on"._ As for the blue butterfly, it represents wishes and ward of evil but for sailors it means they would die at sea. Notice that there are exactly 7 butterflies in Wooyoung's scene. I believe *Mingi* found the treasure, notice that he doesn't say _"fix on"_ but he said _"I got the answer"_ and holds the telescope while on the small boat. Also in Answer, notice that *San's* choreo seems to be pouring out the wine which means reverence to friends that passed away so they might have repeated the same pattern again and went back to the beginning. They were also standing in what looks like a huge clock and maybe that is how they turned back the time and most of the mv seems to be on a wrecked ship, you can see the propellers and the cloth might be the sails. They might have burned their illusion ship. They also keep repeating the words _burn_ and _we're burning like fireworks_ which might reference to Hala-Hala where everyone keeps saying _"Let's get burning now"_ and ended with Wooyoung as the only one standing. The one I can't pinpoint quite yet is Yunho. He might be an overseer and controlling things but I'm gonna search for it later. He was standing in front of what looks like survaillance screens and in the end of the MV, his shadow was flickering like it was glitching in Wonderland. He was also standing in front of mirrors in Answer. The start of Treasure is the same as the end of Precious which backs the time loop theory. Their last song for this era *Outro: Into the Long Journey's* last line is: _We are the history and we will be the one_ which also backs up the time travel theory Back to the beginning. What are they looking for? What is the treasure? Gold? Eternal life? (reference to Intro) Also in Pirate King *Mingi* said _Time we gon' get it, taking our time we gon' get it_. So they might simply be looking for a way out the time loop. Who knows?
