At war's end his health was pretty bad. A guy in his seventies commanding whole fronts. Took a lot out of the old gentleman. It was better that Kesselring was head of OKW West at the end. A lot of US Army officers got in trouble at war's end for dining and having friendly chats with their fellow warriors the German Field Marshals. There is a photo out there of Kesselring laughing and joking around with the US Army major that captured him.

He came from a well respected military family and hitler fired him twice. He did distinguish himself in World War I at the first battle at Marne. He was due to go to trail but he didn’t due partly his age and health and partly I think because of his family. He passed away in 1953. He also despised the crazy little corporal for what he did to the military and Germany.

He looks very releaved. GVR was one of very few German Army Officers to make in thru both World Wars.
