Beautiful work, as always. The filming, editing, CC commentary - all of it - just breathtaking. Korea must be in some sort of Renaissance for leather work. You're one of a number of really talented artisans, working entirely by hand, from your country. I started leather work over the Christmas holidays - I've been teaching myself how from videos such as yours. Thank you. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

Quick question(s) - what type of tape do you use to attach the acrylic templates to the leather? Is that the same type that they sell for sewing &/or quilting? Are you using a temporary glue to keep the templates from sliding over a leather with stretch/texture? Are you using 2.7 mm pricking irons, and what brand? Do you use water soluble glue or rubber cement?
@AtelierSANGBLEU2 жыл бұрын
It's an honor to hear that I'm one of a number of really talented artisans! It gives me a lot of strength💪🏻🙏🏻 I'm not sure which kind of tape is for sewing & quilting but, what I've been using for patterns are just normal double-sided tapes! But to prevent damage to the leather, I always weaken the tapes before sticking them.(tapping with suedes) Typically, I use #12 irons for small projects which are not quite easy to get nowadays 😅(Vergez Blanchard still produces this, and some Chinese brands produce this from time to time) It was custom-made iron and I have no idea about the brands or artisans currently. There are no rules, you can just use wider irons and design the patterns to suit your irons 😉 I use water based non-toxic glue from Ecostick😉

Thanks a lot for your interests!🤗 Unfortunately, I decided not to reveal all of my detailed thickness😓 People frequently ask that kind of informations but, they need to understand that there's no rules for the thickness and should test them for their own designs. Thickness always differs from designs and functions, you need to test them for your own designs. Mine as well, always have different thicknesses as per the designs and type of leathers. If it is not revealed on my videos, I will not reveal them for now! So, please understand this, and start test them out for your own designs😉

@AtelierSANGBLEU2 жыл бұрын

Great video as always😊 may I ask how you give that glossy look to the edge paint??? Is it by rubbing wax onto it or do you apply the glossy top coat??
@AtelierSANGBLEU2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment! As you can see in the video, there's no glossy top coat. if the top layer was well leveled and properly ironed with heat, the surface would already be smoothened with a little bit of shine. On that finishing, I coat the beeswax and polish them a little bit more with the canvas. that makes more smooth shine on the original edge ;)
@rz31592 жыл бұрын
@@AtelierSANGBLEU thank you so much for answering!! Edge finishing seems so difficult, how many layers of paint do you usually apply?? Do you sand and iron every layer?? Also do you bevel edges or keep them flat before applying paint?? Sorry for so many questions😬
@AtelierSANGBLEU2 жыл бұрын
I've already revealed all my finishings on my videos all the time, there's no edge bevel. Typically the bevel is used on Veg tanned leathers and commonly used on Japan/ US style of crafting which tends to remain raw finish with the bulky thickness(I think they love the raw/ rugged feeling of the thick hides). if the leather is too soft and has irregular flesh with thick thickness, that could be over 10 layers. Some hard edges with regular flesh with a thin thickness could be easier to get to the perfect level and would be done within 5 layers. Totally depends on the situation we got, there are no rules. That is the reason why I don't want to talk about my technical things saying this is a bible of how it goes... I just want you and people to make their own ways suitable for their situations and needs. Hm... Maybe if I do some basic tutorials, I'll cover a little bit more on that but, that would not be the bible of leathercraft either.😅
