ATEM Mini Pro - disappearing Upstream Key fix

You go to the ATEM setup app (installed with the ATEM) and you select the option to make the key not switch off with transition and problem solved.

I've got the Mini not the Pro but you can use the ATEM Setup utility to change whether Upstream and Downstream keyers stay on or disappear with transitions, the default is drop with transition.

Thank you so much for this. You're right and it's a very strange place to put this toggle. I never thought to look there, in a separate program to change that. Now you've made my video completely pointless. But maybe I'll remake it to show people how to do this.

Could either of you direct me specifically to this function? I have the ATEM television studio hd but I’m assuming it is the same process.

@@marksanchez7558 When you open the ATEM Setup Utility, the choices are pretty much right there. I found it in under 15 seconds. Just be sure your ATEM is hooked up to the computer with the ATEM Setup on it. If yours doesn't offer it, maybe the studio hd isn't capable. I really don't know how to help you more than this.

goodeggpro interesting, when i open my setup application it only has network configuration options. Nothing that i am able to find about software control. Thank you for your reply

@@marksanchez7558 I have a TV Studio HD for my church and it's not a setup option for that, they probably expect you to use the Software Control, but once configured you can use the Mini without a computer. The way @goodeggpro does it in this video will work for the television studio. Doug Johnson Productions has a good video about keyers on atem switchers.

@@hpeinado Blackmagic downloaded a setup app with the actual software...in that app there is an option for chrome follow keying...

How do you get Vlc overlays ?

I did it by going out from my laptop, into one of the HDMI inputs. The laptop can make that HDMI out as a 2nd monitor, which I play the VLC in full screen on that "2nd screen". Then, I choose that input as a downstream key, which will overlay it on whatever my other of the three HDMI inputs is showing. It definitely matters how you prepare that VLC video. Green screen is the best way to only have what you want as the overlay.
