So, I was looking for something to use as a monitor and mixer for live streaming, but what I'm also looking for is something that can use audio from a mixer, or audio from a mono or stereo TRRS mic setup, like a Picomic receiver, my only problem is, I can't find much besides a dedicated camera that supports stereo TRRS mics, in dual channel mode... The Picomic setup I have seen on youtube looks very nice, but unless I'm using an audio input only jack, some of the usefulness would be moot on something like say a cellphone, unless I was using the audio from both mic's mixed together on both channels, as a cellphone only supports a mono mic... Aside from getting an audio mixer or other more expensive, way of doing things, is there another way of recording stereo audio with only a cellphone to record with??? That yolobox looks neat, and aside from the audio needs, would make everything so much easier than I normally watch on youtube... but unless it's very cheap, I honestly couldn't justify buying something like that, at least, not at the moment, although I do hope to do live streaming eventually...
@northwiebesick71363 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I don't have anything right now, except for my cell phone and a tripod mount, but I'm not doing live streaming yet... I'm just looking for stuff to use in the future, if I decide to do the whole youtube thing... **Edit** the phone is a pixel 4a, so I can't use HDMI on it,so I'd be stuck with live streaming that directly from the phone, but specifically, im looking for something that allows me to do stereo audio recording for the cell phone, but unfortunately, the cellphone interface doesn't make full use of TRRS only the headset variant, unlike a dedicated camera... I'd like to be clear about one thing, and that's the fact that I generally don't have the space to do a full 16 or 24 channel audio mixer, like my church does, and thankfully, we are getting an upgrade soon, which as the novice sound engineer, is a nightmare right now, because the current mixer was built in around 1994, and is going to pot... We will also, from what I understand, be adding live streaming functionality, which will be a bit to get used to, because like I said, I don't have live streaming experience yet

@@sonyajones a video camera with HDMI out is going to be one of the things I look at purchasing, if and/or when I decide to go to something that CAN do stereo recording out of the box... I currently quite like the pixel 4a video... It's only the crippled TRRS support that I hate As for desktop, yes I do... But only cell phone internet, and I'm in the boonies, so... "Can you hear me now", anyone??? My before you ask it's a custom AMD 3900x system with a 5700xt graphics card... Little on the cheap side of graphics, but I wanted lots of cores, and an all AMD rig, without the product issues I would have had if I waited for the new stuff

So I actually have a question: why would I choose one of these products (or, probably better in my case, the newer atem mini extreme) over a software based solution in your opinion? A couple of weeks ago I streamed a 5 cameras live concert (1h30m) to facebook, with digitally zoomed scenes for different looks, up to 3 cameras split screen, overlay graphics, pre recorded video ads, i even sharpened the image coming out of an older canon dslr and added some color correction to better match the other cameras... I used obs and a 2012 macmini i7 quad wirh 16GB of ram, 2 internal drives (256GB ssd + 1TB hdd). For the video inputs i used inexpensive hdmi to usb chinese cards (about 18$ each on amazon) and a usb3 hub for a couple of extra usbs. The mini was definitely too hot but didn’t flinch, I even recorded the streaming on the internal HDD. Now I replaced the thermal paste and added an external fan (ran a few tests and with this little mod i went from 104C to 70C with 98% constant cpu usage) I basically spent only 150$ ish... 100ish for the hdmi cards 30ish for the fan and 10ish for the thermal paste. It is definitely loud now with the fans on.. but other than noise... what’s the advantage of the atem mini? Why not buy an elgato streamdeck for example if i just wanna add physical buttons? There’s literally NOBODY talking about this on the internet... i can’t be the only one confused about this can i?
@MrSupadave132 жыл бұрын
I know this old but I feel the switchers will handle the load better than the PC/Mac. Meaning your processor shouldn't need to run at 98% to handle the 1 input coming in to something like obs. Good job on piecing your rig together like that.

Great job as always, Shane, though you didn't mention the cost difference. (YoloBox is significantly more expensive) Quick question: couldn't you use a cheap HDMI switcher into one (or even both) of the inputs of the YoloBox to add some more HDMI sources? Since you're likely only streaming one source at a time, you could switch sources on the cheap switcher while you're streaming from the other input, then switch back again and you'd have another angle. Just a thought.

I would like to have a 4th camera option and remain mobile as I only stream events and the yolobox allows me to keep the steam going as I move around venues or drive to the burial site during a funeral. It looks like if I could somehow attach the livepro to my tripod and power it, I would be able to run it into the yb and still be mobile. Do you think that is possible? About the power buttons. I think the YoloBox is the only one that you would have to turn off manually is because it runs stand-alone. The other two switchers are generally integrated into a bigger recording setup. For a studio it is usefull to turn on one switch of a powerstrip and have all your devices start up. Having a powerbutton or power switch would hinder the workflow in that situation.

I think you should put an overlay edit on this video about the 4k issue. I see in your comments that you admitted it was your camera down converting, but not all cameras will even do that. For example none of the stills oriented Panasonic bodies will do this, both the G95 and the top of the line G9 will output 4k only if it is recording 4k internally. Only the GH 4 and GH5 support down converting in the Panasonic MFT lineup. The standards converted ins will happily upscale a 720p or deinterlace a 1080i but 4k inputs will be ignored.

I have to fully agree with this point. You’re comparing products but ignoring the price which is so important. In addition there’s a ton of software which controls and enhances the BlackMagic Atems. For example the Atem Pro with multi view is still significantly cheaper than the Yolobox. Undoubtedly the Yolo with an LTE router/modem is a great mobile streaming solution but then you’re adding even more cost.

For using a mirrorless/DSLR camera in 1080p mode at 30fps to do Zoom conferences: Do you know how the video quality of the Blackmagic ATEM Mini compares to the Magewell Capture HDMI Gen 12 and/or the Elgato Cam Link? If I want to minimize latency, am I better off getting an internal computer card like the Magewell Pro Capture HDMI Card? I heard complaints about certain capture cards that use some form of jpeg compression that reduces the video image quality. Does that really matter? Does a device using USB 2.0 vs USB 3.0 make any difference in latency? (I know the Blackmagic ATEM Mini is a switcher with extra features, but at this temporary point, I'm just trying to understand differences in latency and video quality for each device using 1 mirrorless/DSLR camera.) I wonder why you did not cover price points? Yolo 1k$, Livepro 300$, ATEM mini 300, ATEM mini PRO 600$, AND ATEM mini PRO ISO 900$ rough prices. I have a ATEM mini PRO, but need more inputs, as I have a rather complex and thus versatile setup. more inputs allows me to change what I am doing without re-plugging. Currently i have head on camera, top down, side view, and PC. adding a handheld camera and perhaps other views for specific uses, and adding a gaming console. so i will be purchasing a second unit at some point in the future. I love the concept of the YOLOBox, but at that price i will probably pass. LivePro has a great set of features at a great pricepoint comperable to the ATEM mini. to get similar features from ATEM I need to spend a lot more $. The advantage to staying with ATEM and say just getting a mini to go with my PRO is I can control both simultaneously with the software. but at the same price point... if I can control the LivePro with Companion software (coupled with my Streamdeck) then the software control from BlackMagicDesign is a Mute point. currently I edit all my videos, and primarily use my ATEM mini PRO to streamline my workflow, but I do plan to start streaming in the near future.

You state the two hdmi inputs limit the YOLO. Adding an hdmi switcher would be a really low cost solution to rectify that problem. I have a two and a four hdmi switcher. Yes, I can tell you why they don't put power buttons on them. It's simple really. They are not "powerful" enough ;)

check out another comment. the USB input could be utilized with a $10 converter for additional camera source.
@nuvotion-live3 жыл бұрын
@@frankfengzhu What is the latency with those cheap converters though? I've got a couple $300+ Magewell capture cards, and they are just on the edge in terms of lag, probably 3-4 frames behind real time. Any slower than that would not really work for my application
@frankfengzhu3 жыл бұрын
@@nuvotion-live not 100% sure on this. I would say the lag could not be clearly felt.

Great review! Can I ask what the recording bitrate is for the yolobox in 1080p?
@frankfengzhu3 жыл бұрын
YoloBox uses CQ(Constant Quality) encoding method, it is very friendly for weak internet environment and doesn't require a high bitrate for 1080p recording and streaming.

Hey Geeky Nerdy Techy, which of these mixer you think would work best for worship houses live streaming their services? Getting the audio from the soundboard and for the use of 4 cameras.
@GeekyNerdyTechy3 жыл бұрын
The ATEM is your best bet if you are using audio that is not connected directly to a camera.

Hi, can you tell if the YoloBox work on LTE?
@SoundBarrierEntertainment3 жыл бұрын
is it usually the audio is ahead or behind the video, just want to know i will be using a digital console which can easily be delayed...
@steveliddle84173 жыл бұрын
The video encoding takes longer than the audio so you usually have to delay the incoming audio if it's on one of the separate audio inputs. If you feed your audio to a camera then it will be in sync already. On the ATEM mini series you can choose which audio source should be sent to program, even mix several inputs if necessary.
