Why did not Kaiba anticipate Atem playing De-Fusion? He saw Atem use it in their tag team duel against Lumis and Umbra before the finals.

​@@giuliobertino7225 Atem Special Summons Valkyrion by sending his Magnet Warriors to the Graveyard, and he attacks with Valkyrion to destroy Des Guardius by battle. Lumis activates Des Guardius from the Graveyard, equipping Mask of Remnant from his Deck to Vallyrion to gain control of it. Umbra activates Masquerade to take control of Lumis's Valkyrion, and he attacks Atem directly. Atem activates De-Fusion and targets Valkyrion, splitting it into three Magnet Warriors on Umbra's field (since Valkyrion is treated as a Fusion Monster in the anime). Kaiba activates Soul Exchange (anime effect), and uses the three Magnet Warriors as tribute fodder for Obelisk, and he attacks with Obelisk to wipe out Umbra.

A lot of these cards seem to work differently (ie better) than the anime card versions in ygopro, some of which don’t exist, like Diffusion Wave Motion one assuring that all 3 are destroyed at once, and the XYZ fusions. I know it’s been a long time and the video was acquired from nicovideo, but does anyone know where to find these versions?

@Kirito Gamer I’m not looking for the accurate effect I’m looking for the one that captures the visual. :| I’m also looking for the XYZ fusions that work like this as opposed to unioning And no I don’t think successive attacks is more accurate to the anime. It attacks all enemies at once with a wave. The anime takes things literally, not mechanically-which is why there’s no replay when an attack is dodged with inter dimensional matter transporter.

4:02 Kaiba misplayed badly. All he had to do was use monster reborn to revive obelisk, tribute his 2 blue eyes white dragons with its effect, and wipe yugi's board and the rest of his LP.

Ya know, Atem misplayed. He should've activated Hand Destruction and Disgraceful Charity during the Battle Phase, or at least when Kaiba activated Thirst For Compensation

Is it ever revealed what the last cards they each chose with Final Attack Orders are? Kaiba had Monster Reborn and Absorb Spell, Atem had De-Fusion and Diffusion Wave-Motion, but they each had one more and I'm curious

Too many battle phases were skipped in this duel. The spectacle of the anime distracted us too much to notice. Also when yugi attacked xyz he should have won. Kaiba banished it until the end of the turn therefore the number of monsters on his field changed abd therefore yugi would normally have to replay the attack

Replay battle wasn't a thing in Battle City. Attacks just fizzled instead.

Not a bad point. Even if Yami survived the attack he wouldn't be able to activate Diffusion wave motion and Dark Paladin would've lost 500 atk and couldn't deplete the rest of Kaiba's life points. Meaning Yami's last card needed to be some other type of monster remover card or Kaiba could've won the duel by deck out but I guess you could argue though that he wanted to win via strength rather than a cop out like in Duelist Kingdom.

I cannot answer the first question, but the second one is because the Gods have an effect that protects other monsters if they are in Defense Mode

@@jacksbrow182 yup, yugi summoned slifer in defense to block one of mariks attacks. this anime-only rule later inspired hamon lord of striking thunders defense position effect.

Cards have different effects in anime/manga and the rules are different. Every spell works as a quick spell, fusioned monster cannot attack on their first turn, Time Wizard is a spell card, you got me.
