I went and combined a crooked cook build with time lords, the result is surprisingly effective as a burn/stall deck. It also incorporates Ravenous Tarantula for those niche circumstance power plays with ridiculous momentum building beatsticks that can one shot most players

Crooked cook is far from being a part of the current meta. It's so easy to get around, and it's much weaker than everyone thinks. All you need is either a kaiju, cards that deal burn damage, a card with high attack with the capability to deal piercing battle damage, exodia, card destruction or morphing jar so they can't exodia, and many other ways. Crooked cook ain't no substitute for something like mystic mine.

yup..but pairing it with bunch of handtrap,,negate trap, lava golem, golden ladybug can offset it.. as long you can summon it in the first turn you set to win..paired with any monster or token card that summon at your oppenent side of field surely piss them off

I hate these people on Duel masters 99% of them rely on 1 play to win they have no backup strategy they just use combos they got on KZbin instead of finding their own buy reading card effects and thinking.

I faced my first Crooked yesterday. I didn't know much about it and my deck didn't have a lot to go over it so I got Exodiad lol. From the top of my head I can think of like two things i could add to my deck to maybe get over it. A spell or trap that gives my monster piercing damage or a kaijuu. But I'm sure there are better outs. I also played horribly but that's mainly cuz I had no clue what the guy was going for. Literally my first time going against a deck like that. Edit: I really am a bit against adding a Kaijuu since it could really brick my hand at times but I dunno. It would be pretty useful in a lot of situations.

A kaijuu could be useful for a lot of situations not just crooked cook but I can agree it is a pretty big brick at times, especially when you run more than one or draw into multiple copies. That being said I try to always keep an out for crooked cook because I think it’s a lazy play style and their scoops and tears make me powerful.

if you dont want Kaju you could always use Underworld Goddess the 5 Link monster it needs 4+ Effekt monsters and 1 of this can be your Opponents. and because its not an Maindeck monster no problem with Bricking into it.

Just run underworld goddess. They do nothing and can't set cards so you can easily just save up resources and make sure they can't get a second one up

I love the crooked cook and the sharks strat but I gotta say, this was a great out for the cooks vexing immunities heheh. Only two weaknesses in the cook: Cook can be tributed and cook does not negate piercing damage. If you run cook and encounter amazoness decks, be wary they have piercing

As long Number 59: Crooked cook effect says Unaffected to other card effects while this is only monster on the field and cannot be destroyed by battle. Which is nearly invincible….. However there is a weakness of this Crooked Cook, it says if that Crooked Cook monster only the field, then you should put your monster next to your opponent’s “Crooked Cook” such as “Lava Golem”, “Kaiju Monsters”, “Black Rose Tokens”, or anything that is similar to these Card’s effect. Also you can use a monster that attacks opponents LP directly by any means necessary. In philosophy: “The best weapon against an enemy is another enemy.” - Friedrich Nietzsche.

Summoning a monster is a game mechanic, not an effect. The spell changes the game rules to be able to use your opp. Monster(s) to summon a monster. Unaffected monsters can still be kaiju/tributed for summoning costs.

The Monarchs Stormforth also "changes the game rules" with what's basically exactly the same effect of modifying what monsters you can tribute for a tribute summon, yet does not allow you to remove Crooked Cook from the field if you try to tribute it for your own monster. Neither does Lair of Darkness, and up to this point the only way to tribute an effect-immune monster via spell effect was to force your opponent to tribute their own monster with cards like Share the Pain. The real answer here is that Soul Crossing has a card-specific ruling given by Konami that explicitly allows it to work this way: "Monsters that are unaffected by Spell effects can be Tributed for Tribute Summons. The effect of "Soul Crossing" is one that performs a Tribute Summon, not one that Tributes monsters by a card effect." This is some insane troll logic in my opinion but that's the way Konami wants us to read the card so that's the way we have to go about it.

The ruling of Soul crossing is an effect that changes game ruling, it doesn't effect cards. All you really need to know is that Soul crossing allows you to tribute an opponents monster to summon a god-card. there are extremely very few cards in the game that are immune to being tributed.

I used to love Cook in my old rank 4 toolbox. Used him with the Heroic Champion that gives 1000 attack and had an alternative Towers. And that was it, just a good monster with protection on the field. Now there's this cancerous version there that can't be destroyed in battle. The player should feel ashamed to use this.
