Atenista po ako, Grade 8. Ang Alma Mater Song po natin, HANGO sa anthem ng Canada. TAYO po ang bumase sa melody ng O Canada. Nakalagay pa nga po sa official songbook namin.

It's music is adapted from Calixa Lavalée’s music to the hymn “O Canada”, composed in 1880, which is why many people believe that the Ateneo copied the music of Canada’s national anthem. However, it is interesting to note that Canada only adopted “O Canada” as its own national anthem in 1980. The Ateneo de Manila adopted “A Song for Mary” as its alma mater song three decades earlier. the melody was composed in 1880 as a patriotic song for french-canadians. they say imitation is the best form of flattery...well as a french-canadian myself, i'm kind of flattered.

Medyo complicated. Mas nauna yung O Canada. Pero at that time e di pa National anthem. E inadopt ng Ateneo yung tune. Then naging inadopt na O Canada as National Anthem.
