It's about sales, they restrict this or that to promote and encourage the sales of other parts and guns. They're not going to admit that though. Many of the agents may know their job but may not really understand the motives behind many policies. When there was an assault weapons ban it stipulated the gun could ONLY have 3 of 5 features. Which were, pistol grip, collapsing stock, detachable box magazine, bayonet lug and flash hider. ANY configuration but NO more than THREE of the FIVE features which meant guns like the SKS, M1 Carbine and M1A were legal while most AR15s and AK47's were not. Most guns had ONLY 2 or 3 of the 5 features not all 5. So it was good for promoting the sale of older surplus guns. It was finally lifted some time between 2000 thru 2005. The most ideal long gun is an overall length of 30 to 32 inches, they have the best handling, NOT too long. But the barrel must be at least 16" for a rifle and 18" for a shotgun which MAKES the single shot rifle and shotguns the most ideal, they're about 30" to 32" overall rather than 36 to 40. I know it just seems like a few inches but they can get in the way while maneuvering 😁 Most users do NOT need that power nor range of a 16" to 20" barrel. They know everyone wants their carbine to have that 10-12 inch barrel with an overall length of 30 to 32 inches. So they restrict it and make everyone who wants to legally get one and not be arrested, charged with a felony and fined for possession apply for and pay for a permit to remove restrictions. It's bullshit. The 36" to 40" gun isn't a big deal, the 36" is fine but it's just bullshit to make law abiding citizens pay more just to avoid being arrest and charged with a felony while anyone who doesn't give a fuck could just replace the barrel or cut it. 🤦♂️ It's as if they know so many dummies will LEGALLY purchase shorter uppers, put it on their lower then be in ILLEGAL possession of an SBR, as if they're setting people up just to convict and fine them before confiscating their guns to place in a police or government auction.
