I have the same issue with the Santa Fe caboose, cannot see the lights. I took it apart, the LEDs are red going through that clear plastic pipe and the lens are also red. no chance to see a light with that. Thanks for the hint for the position of the light board, I will definitely try to move it round. I will probably replace the red LEDs with white ones...nice job on all your work :)

I'm starting to like my SP Genesis caboose that I got when they just lights and no sound even more now. All the lamps on mine are bright as can be, but all the Soundcar equipped ones I've seen reviewed on KZbin seem to have problems with the lamps being too dim and not working with the magnet.

The wire you plugged into the current keeper socket, is the blue wire on the left side of the plug as looking from that end of the caboose

The plug only fits in one way.

You are welcome. Yes, Athearn did a very bad job. The model is nice but the lights & sound are not good unless you do a lot of modification.

I am extremely surprised you needed to do as much work as you did to get this caboose to where you wanted it. I'm just wondering, I've only done a few sound cars which don't have any lighting to deal with, but given a choice could you have done a better/easier job adding the sound and light to a non-light, non-sound Genesis caboose yourself ? Just curious. Great video. Extremely informative.

Well, I wanted that Chessie caboose, but yes, doing one from scratch would have been much easier

Your head shadow is getting in the way and it's NEVER a good idea to put model RR equipment on carpet or fabric, since the fibers can jam moving parts.

Never had a problem in the 20+ years I've been working on locomotive. But you do what works for you.
