Another great review Ben....I picked up a couple of CNW .... numbers are for the Dynamic Duo pair. But I do Non-Sound as I like to outfit with ESU Lok.

Excellent review and very nice loco indeed. Fine details combined with smooth running out-of-the-box that blow away *any* and all competition (in my humble opinion) The fine print is jaw-dropping and so is the "actual" photo etched see trough walkway. Superb in every respect. Quite the amazingly loco. if I was modern era (ish) I would get a few. Great choice of paint scheme: CN. haha! Well done Ben. Cheers Syl

Nice review Ben, it's crazy how good these models are now with their mechanisms and full detail and paint!! Back in the day when I bought most of my Conrail engines in Athearn and Kato I felt lucky Conrails engines were mostly stock from EMD and GE, I knew it would only take a set amount time to add grab irons and snow plows and a few underframe details!! Way to go Athearn!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Nice review Ben! Athearn have done a great job , and from a maintenance and reliability side, they are better than ST in my opinion. Also you can adjust all the light levels individually as I'm sure you know. For the drive set up , try setting CV 212 at about 230, 209 at about 120 and you will get even smoother starts! I have my BEMF (212) at 200 and it won't wheelslip until about speed step 6 out of 255. Love the lit number boards too. Cheers Gregg.

Any evidence of these Dash 9 units getting diverted through CP mountain territory? Not critiquing your operations, just curious. I've been researching some interesting consists of CN SD40-2s, SD40-2Ws, Dash 8s, SD60Fs mixed with CP SD40-2s and early CP AC4400s. Would welcome any knowledge or opinion. Super cool locomotive. Thanks Ben!
@BArailsystem3 жыл бұрын
It's not uncommon to see power from any class 1 on CP or CN's mainline. The major railroads all subscribe to "power sharing". It's definitely a rarer event but not uncommon. Then there is diversions where trains from CN or CP will run across the competitions mainline with a pilot from the home road. For example in 2013 during the floods in Calgary, CP ran priority trains up through Jasper on CN. Speaking of dash 9's specifically, how cool is this: cprailmmsub.blogspot.com/2012/02/whats-wrong-with-this-picture.html

They screwed the pooch on the walkways, so many people have wavy ones to the point that our miniature engineers would trip over if they were drunk !
@BArailsystem3 жыл бұрын
They were warped on mine as well. I mentioned it in the video info, not uncommon, I've seen it from every single manufacturer. Especially when the models experience a dramatic temperature swing like they do when they leave the warm Fedex truck then sit on my doorstep in -10*C all afternoon. A toothpick, CA glue and about five minutes to fix them.
