runninggames771 actually the US position on the matter is there's no official language. Like going to China town or going to a very heavily Hispanic area most verbal business dealings are in Spanish. I'm Hispanic but I'm not completely fluent yet. Whenever I go to where my family lives and say I go to the market people address me in Spanish instead of English for instance.

Once again, everyone is arguing over whether or not the phrase "under God" should be in the loyalty oath, and thus missing the point entirely. The question we should be asking is: "why do we make children chant a loyalty oath in a free country?" If you are arguing about the wording of the loyalty oath, then you are inherently buying into the idea that the loyalty oath should exist and should be recited in a free country. Fuck that.

***** And you think forcing a bunch of kids long before they can even understand what they are doing into pledging themselves to a country they know nothing about is the solution? You think blind nationalism is what will restore us to what you might call our former glory? I take no pride in this country, and yet I do wish to see it and more importantly the world prosper. I know that the path to prosperity is that of being able to see flaws in this nation as well as others and to try to come up with a solution, not simply putting my hand over my heart and reciting lines. Are those lines going to bring back the lives of those who were lost? No. Will they fix this country? No. Will the religious and patriotic mentality they try to jam down our throats create a generation of critical thinkers who wish to take some steps toward the enbetterment of their society? Ha, your above remarks answer that question for me. Wollowing in gratitude for the past does not fix the present. You know what I stand for? Discussion. Action. Because those practices are what fix problems. I, unlike you, know that my oppinions are not inherently right. Therefor it is more than a need for rebellion that makes me take issue with the brainwashing of children with any ideals, even if they were mine.
@ashleycinnamon6330

***** I also think it's funny that you think myyy generation brought gangs and rap. My generation is still in highschool so that couldn't be possible. Pretty sure it was the generation before mine that brought about rap, though there are those my age who enjoy it. And gangs? Those were around when my grandpa was a kid... or are we forgetting the prohibition? Well of course we are, after all things were perfect back in those days hm? And isn't chest pounding arrogance more in line with those who climb the flag pole as you do to sing "I'm pround to be an American", building this country up to be so much more than it actually is? Those who scream "FREEDOM" as if we are the only 'free' country out there? The pledge itself is wracked with lies anyways. One nation under God, when one of the ideas we were founded upon is the separation of church and state. Indivisable, when we are literally one of the most devided countrys in the world, with our laws changing from state to state and a variety of divisions between opinion, a whole chunk of the country failed to and now Texas recently attempting to secede? With liberty and justice for all... that's truly the kicker there. Where was the Japanese Americans' liberty and justice during your precious WWII? And more recently, where is the justice for those who suffered from crimes of policemen who were never charged? Now now, liberty and justice for ALL is a tall and impossible order. We can't garuntee that even when we follow all proper precausions. Sometimes murderers and rapists get away with it even after standing in court. But then i must wonder why they put that promise there, next to two other falsehoods of faith and indivisability. If you're going to cram patriotism into my classroom, at least don't make it a patriotism that fails to descibe that for which it stands.

Church and State are supposed to be separate. Yet America does not enforce this.
@alvincay100
@alvincay100 9 жыл бұрын
+John Roger Bell You are not interpreting separation of Church and State correctly. All that "separation of church and state" was intended to mean was that the state cannot have an official religion. And by that they meant a particular branch of Christianity, like the Church of England. It was implicitly assumed that Christianity would be everywhere in society and would influence the state.
@Diddyshaow
@Diddyshaow 9 жыл бұрын
Calvin Smith That sounds exactly what the Republican party is but Ok, if you say so. You know in many other democratic countries, faith, religion and God does not come up in political speeches every day right? And why are state clerks not doing their job because of their "faith." You interpret things differently than me because if people's faith is how they choose to argue about Abortion, Marriage and other social issues it is a PROBLEM. Has no place in the argument to begin with.
@Diddyshaow
@Diddyshaow 9 жыл бұрын
Calvin Smith Reason being that their faith only represents other Christians and disregards all other religions or lack of religions as less important. I'm confused as to how people do not understand this. If you are to represent the largest demographic of people, then social and economic issues are the ones that should matter most. Religion can only divide and people like to think it brings people together. It only brings LIKE MINDED INDIVIDUALS TOGETHER.
@alvincay100
@alvincay100 9 жыл бұрын
John Roger Bell "You interpret things differently than me because if people's faith is how they choose to argue about Abortion, Marriage and other social issues it is a PROBLEM. Has no place in the argument to begin with. " Unfortunately, until we can find a way to read minds, you can't filter out votes on whether religion was part of the decision process. Anyways, morality is arbitrary in many ways and much of what everyone believes in that regard comes without rigorous justification passed down through generations. Religious beliefs, while obscured by supernatural justification, are often derived from a natural selection like process that gives validity to it's moral view point. Abortion and marriage are great examples of topics that can be debated for or against without religion ever entering the conversation.
@alvincay100
@alvincay100 9 жыл бұрын
John Roger Bell "Religion can only divide and people like to think it brings people together. It only brings LIKE MINDED INDIVIDUALS TOGETHER. " Agreed. But like minded individuals coming together can form a community which can get more done than individuals. So again, while religion is total bullshit in some sense, it can provide utility to society.

***** Valid point. If they don't mention them it might be because perhaps they assumed that the vile creatures who are descendant of the one who disobeyed God himself are women, who by the original sin, are already predisposed by nature to sin and thus do things as witchcraft which in their delusional minds is connected to the devil. However I think they corrected their methods once the lovely Inquisition came in... If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her. (Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT) If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife. (Deuteronomy 22:23-24 NAB) But if this charge is true (that she wasn't a virgin on her wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst. Deuteronomy 22:20-21 If two Israelite men get into a fight and the wife of one tries to rescue her husband by grabbing the testicles of the other man, you must cut off her hand. Show her no pity. Deu 25:12 A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this. Deuteronomy 22:5 When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening. anything she lies on during her period will be unclean, and anything she sits on will be unclean. Whoever touches her bed must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean till evening. Whoever touches anything she sits on must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean till evening. Whether it is the bed or anything she was sitting on, when anyone touches it, he will be unclean till evening." Leviticus 15:19-23 For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. 1 Corinthians 11:16 let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law, and if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for woman to speak in the church." 1 Corinthians 14:34-35

I'm just saying, but "Choose to Participate" is utter bull. Sure, some may permit you to. But not all. During my senior year of High School, I was sent to the office and almost expelled. You want to know why that happened? Because a substitute teacher wanted to MAKE everyone do the "pledge." I refused, saying that forcing me to say anything or as much as pretend to say anything involving a God or religion in general violates my rights. I got sent to the office and had to threaten a lawsuit to even get it down as low as 3 days of T.E. (Transitional Education. Basically, In School Detention.). Only reason I even agreed to that was because I knew she was supposed to be subbing my class the rest of the week anyhow, so I'd rather be in a room by myself than have that one class each day with the bitch for a week.

Mike Corleone They technically labeled it as "Insubordination." But I'm in the middle of the Bible belt bro. I spent the majority of my Junior and Senior years alike being told I was going to Hell by people I didn't know and who had no business talking to me. If you think that this country isn't biased, you're most certainly mistaken. Discrimination to Atheists is a huge problem. And do I look like I give a fuck what our founding fathers "built this country on"? Shit, man, we practically fucking stole the entire piece of land. Sure, some was bought. But the majority was not. And what our country was founded on has nothing to do with the law or what is morally right. If we used the logic of things staying the way they are because that's how they've been, we would still have a slavery issue protected by the "law." And when the law says something that the people "in charge" don't agree with, they tend to not give a shit. Had I taken it to court, I honestly doubt it would have even ruled in my favor. As for other countries, they aren't the fucking issue. And in every case, I would take a bullet before I would claim to believe in a God of any sort. And their government may kill them for not believing the same way, but our own citizens outcast us and history has shown that they're not afraid to kill us either.

You, for an example, may be respectful. And, if I ignore any hateful comments you say as said in the heat of the moment and do the same for any I may have said, then I would like to say that I respect your beliefs. I don't know where you live, but, in Alabama, Christians tend to be the attackers. At one point I was Christian. I gave it a try because it is the most common thing here to be Christian and, like any impressionable young kid, I wanted to fit in. However, when I grew up, I realized that I didn't have to believe what everyone else does just because everyone else did. I never made statements along the lines of "People who don't believe in God are crazy people that should be hung", or the Atheist equivalent, unlike my fellow classmates. But I chose not to believe in a God. And that made me a target for hate speech. That's not the way things should be.

But keep in mind every time a European meets an intelligent American, they do not go around telling everyone that all americans are smart. They do so whenever they hear a stupid one because there own nationalism is kicking in. And regarding your geography exam comment, how would you feel if you were from Vermont and half of Americans can't even identify it as a state? Now you know how I feel, although things have changed since Bernie Sanders opened his mouth. One other thing, remember the UK and US have each other's backs, and even if the US wouldn't act in the self defense of the UK, a ton of people in the US would. Jacov Whaley Incorrect. I'm not sure the percentage is near 30%, as the last I've seen was about 20%. 20% is not the percentage of atheists or freethinkers represented in the US population. About 11% of the 20% represents those who do not identify with a particular denomination within a religion, such as Christianity. About 7% represents those who are not apart of a religion but do not *publicly* identify as atheists, humanists, agnostics etc. Not counting them as a part of the total non-believer percentage, we're left with about roughly 2% of the population that publicly identify as freethinkers. Now, that percentage may very well be up since I haven't looked at the latest data but its clear we are not gaining a significant foot hold in our society. Although, we do make quite some noise for all the land to hear and have begun more 'aggressive' campaigns for equal treatment on all fronts. We have much to achieve and with the downfall of religion seeming ever so near, we will soon be the majority.

With all due respect, I completely agree with what you are saying. We all have inalienable rights, and not everyone believes in god. But, not hearing people say "God" in school is not an inalienable right. In fact, freedom of religion dictates that I can be religious in public. Therefore, I should be allowed to pray and say "God" in school. I agree that the lady in the video was annoying. She didn't communicate very well. I think what she was trying to say, is that just because someone else finds it offensive for me to say "God" in a public place (like a public school), shouldn't mean I can't, because I have an inalienable right to do that. Why should preserving an Atheists feelings be more important than someone's inalienable rights?
@brendan1871
@brendan1871 10 жыл бұрын
Joseph Holt It's because it is basically enforced. Unless times have changed, when I was in elementary school (this was about 6-11 years ago btw) your teacher pretty much forced you to pledge to the allegiance unless you really took an active role to refuse. Even if you did refuse, you potentially would have had to accept alienation from some classmates. The problem is that it is an assumed action for people to say 'controversial' words. Sure people *can* say them, they should not be *forced* to say them. Personally, I don't find offense because I know that "under God" was put in the pledge during a time of great stress and it is so superficial (superficial atheists I tell ya'). I do however, empathize with the oppressed and this is technically oppression unless again, times have changed, and there is less stress on on the choice of saying it or not. Also, take into account that I live in Michigan and that was a public school. I can't imagine how much it is probably enforced in the deep south. I never refused to say it then, but I may object now because I am intellectually more mature and I don't feel that I should *pledge my UNDYING ALLEGIANCE to something as fucking external as, well an external idea of a union* which may or may not change whether I like it or not. Has anyone really, actually thought about the meaning of some of the things they commonly or habitually say? It is called principle, people. But I digress, when there is a rule which has consequences to those who are not infringing on others rights then that is an unjust rule. Also read some of the below comment chains for some other great points (this is not only for Joseph Holt, but for everyone reading this right now) :D P.S. Sorry about the length of my post it is something I tend to do. =/

Joseph Holt I don't believe the issue in question here is whether people are allowed to say "god" in schools...the issue is that the pledge of allegiance, words spoken by congress at the beginning of all congressional sessions, contains the words "under god". The pledge of allegiance is a national, government-sanctioned pledge. Why should the words "under god" be in our national pledge when our government is meant to operate completely independently from religious institutions? Surely you see the distinction here...?
@capusvacans
@capusvacans 10 жыл бұрын
Joseph Holt Of course hearing you mention God isn't a problem, or you saying or even singing it, have at it, I don't care. But the constitution itself prohibits the government from favouring any religion. So why is God mentioned in the pledge. Also, if you rly think having God in the pledge is about your inaliable rights and freedom of religion, then you must agree that other religions have those same inaliable rights aswell as the right to express their religion freely. Hence you would have no problem with it if the pledge were to say: one nation, under Allah, or one nation, under no God. However i'm quite sure that you would protest heavily. But hey, they have the same unaliable rights as you. So why would you have the right to request 'under Allah' to be removed from the pledge. The only reason that you have no problem with God being in the pledge is because it happens to be your God, if it were any other you would instantly play the 'persecuted christian' card. Also, who said that you don't have the right to mention God in school, you can even pray in school without a problem. However you cannot force others to pray along with you. That is the whole point about freedom of religion, it means no force may be put on others, no matter how slight, to force them into following your religion, or to adhere to it's rituals. You have the right to talk about God all you want, and I have the right to ignore your babbling about God completely, or to talk about another God. That is religious freedom. there are tons of religions in the US, yet all non christians are forced to pledge on God, in other words, the inaliable rights of the non christians are infringed upon. Not mentioning God in the pledge doesn't infringe on anyone's rights. All it does is take away the institutionalisation of the 'favoured' religion and puts it on par with the others. And if you rly are a proponent of freedom or religion, you would support that.

Seriously? I'm a swede myself, and I would give anything to be free in this country. Sweden is hell on earth for a person who has the wrong opinion. Let's say you don't like the current immigration policy. If you say that in public, first the media will portray you as a lesser human and the devil himself, and then people will put an axe in your door, or even try to kill you. I'm not kidding, this is literally happening to people right now. There's even a TV-show on swedish television were left wing extremists visit people with "intolerant and fascist opinions" in their homes with a baseball bat in their hands. And these left wing extremists are all under protection of the elite. You won't find a single major newspaper or politician who protests against this. Other than that, the third biggest political party in sweden, the Sweden Democrats, with about 15% of the support, are being frequently marginalized, threatened, and bullied by the government, media, and the so called antifascists/racists. Does anyone think that sounds like a democratic and open country? Do yourself a favor man and move someplace else, I'm thinking of moving to Canada myself as soon as I graduate from College.
@battlehippo89
@battlehippo89 10 жыл бұрын
vincent larsson There's nothing wrong with thinking the swedish immigration is bad or should be restricted or whatever you're thinking of. The problem lies within the Sweden Democrats and the most outspoken of their politicians who are racist. What do I mean by racist? Thinking that it is one group of people, mostly people from the middle-east at the moment, who's at fault in all the problems that we've got. When you think that it comes down to that it's their fault our economics isn't as good any longer or that our crimerates are entirely their fault. If you think that all immigration should be cut off or restricted, I've got no problem with that. If you've got some facts to support that such a claim would be beneficial to the whole of the country, I can get behind it. However, if you think that cutting or restricting immigration from only one part of the world is okey, then I have a problem with it. I do not condone the things that mass media is doing in terms of trying to margianlize a whole party and I really think that they are quite biased (as much as the other side like friatider etc) but when politicians in a party make comments that are unsavory, unnecessary, racist and are lying, then there's a problem. A problem which many people who vote for the Sweden Democrats would rather dismiss it seems. Not saying that the other parties don't do it aswell, but it's more frequent. Too frequent even. I have no idea what TV-program you're refering to since I don't watch TV but it sounds ghastly. What do I want to say with all this? You are free to say and feel what you want, but you can't do so without consequences and there will always be someone who thinks that they've got it right. Canada sounds lovely though, thought about moving there myself.

Christian Berggren I'm glad to hear that at least someone think as I do when it comes to freedom of speech. I'm not going to argue over any politics or whether or not there is racism in the Sweden Democrats, that's not the point here. My point is, I believe Sweden is in fact not a democracy, but more between an idiocracy and democrature. You seem to be a person who's okay with people having different opinions than you, but the fact is, the majority of the swedes don't think that way, and I'm not speaking out of my arse here, this comes from first hand experience. The media, the government, and perhaps half of the people think it's okay, and sometimes even encourages violence against so called "intolerant views". You can see this happening every other day. By the way, the TV-show I was referring to is called "Trolljägarna" and is being broadcasted on TV3.

If I could speak to her I would say this, 1) it was added in violation of the law 2) I don't care the slightest amount how you say it or how you want it, the state (government) cannot endorse or enforce any religion 3) teachers and schools are of the state (public schools not private ...depending on whether or not they receive state funds) and cannot put forth any religion 4) if a student wishes to speak it a given way or to refuse to speak it, that is up to them 5) five, the BIG one...... "students being used as pawns of their parents....." how he (d)uck (autocorrect kept my swearing down and that looks funnier anyway) do you think an atheist sees indoctrination and having a child who can't know any better at such a young age, to spout forth what you cram down their throats, stop using YOUR kids as pawns, let them learn to think critically, and stop being a hypocrite... John Love Its endorsing Christianity. Teachers that work at PUBLIC schools are HIRED by the STATE GOVERNMENT, so yes teachers are of the state. Evolution is taught in schools because there is actuall evidence of evolution, which children and society can benefit from learning. But its ok if you're a parent and don't want your kid to learn about evolution, just don't send them to public schools. Im sure there's a private school out there who would love for you to pay them to indoctrinate your kids.

+Satan's Prodegy If a public teacher says that she likes McDonalds, is that state endorsement of McDonalds? What teacher do, does not mean it is endorsed by government. What you are saying is that teachers have to give away their rights to retain job, which is stupid, because Constitution explicitly protects government from taking away those rights. Oh! And if you are unhappy with Pledge of Allegiance, you can follow your own advice. You can join a private Marxist school.
@satansprodegy8933
@satansprodegy8933 6 жыл бұрын
John Love A teacher can say that they like McDonald's, but as a state government employee they are not allowed to endorse a religion or force religion onto their students because the constitution clearly states that there is to be a separation of church and state, and that everyone has freedom of religion. Which is what the video we are commenting on is about. Kids in school being forced to recite the pledge of allegiance that illegaly endorses one religion. And you're right, teachers rights are limited in the classroom, and for a good reason too. A teachers job is to teach whatever curriculum they are being paid to teach, not to share their religious beliefs or political beliefs(unless it pertains to the class) because it creates conflict between teachers, parents, and the school board. When a teacher infringes on kids beliefs it pisses parents off because 1 its their kid and 2 its also their beliefs. I'm sure you would be pissed if your kids teacher tried to plant their beliefs in your kids head, the same goes for every other parent. Kids go to school to learn, church is for religion.
@johnlove2954

+Satan's Prodegy 1. A teacher can endorse a religion, she cannot force it. Endorsement is a part of Freedom of Speech and Expression. When you say that she cannot do that, you are saying that she cannot say "I think God is real". Sorry, but Government can do nothing against speech. 2. No, Pledge of Allegiance contains one line about God. Not Yahweh. Lot of religions believe in God. You are trying to censor a word. By your logic, atheists should be able to refuse currency as well? 3. No, a teacher should not share their political or religious belief. But it is not Unconstitutional. 4. I may be upset, but teachers do it all the time. I haven't seen atheists cry when the reverse happens. 5. Yes, school is to learn. But unless, you try to frame every teacher for sharing his/her belief, whatever that may be, I see no reason to believe you are not bigoted. I am not sure which school you went, or which public University, but there are teachers from all sides of spectrum that share their belief with students. You act as if it is a crime, only when it is pro-religion.

There's a scene in it where a class of school children preform the pledge of allegiance. And NOT a mention of the words "Under God". Which even I, as a foreigner, know that those words were introduced in 1954 to show that America "wasn't a godless nation like those Communist Russians". That's right folks, up until it's introduction in 1954 there was NO "under god" in the USA's pledge of allegiance.

If Jesus came back(if he was a person) he would be appalled. The truth is in the bible and all other religious books but almost no one knows what it is. People cannot connect to it, see the truth in it. Don't get me wrong there is a lot of BS in all the religions but the truth is in them. The ultimate truth of life has been revealed, and for the first time we can Know how life actually works, we can Know the truth and it turned out to be better than anything we could have imagined. The truth can be explained with or without reference to religion. People can keep their religions as long as they see the truth in them, and heave the BS. Everyone needs to check the truth for themselves, Google *_Truth Contest_* and read the top entry. This is truth the evidence suggests, truth you can and should check for yourself.

this isnt a surprise to me... my high school (a public school in the US) told us that evolution wasnt a fact, taught us about christianity and our teachers would harass students (myself included) telling us we were going to hell because we werent going to the right youth group. i was christian at that time and didnt understand why this was wrong and not the way to treat children. As an adult, i am having my kids go to at home public school so i can monitor the teacher/student interaction first hand. what a shit situation to have to be in... to have to monitor your child's teacher so they dont feed them lies and religious propaganda. The religious culture where i live has turned me from a Theist, to a Deist, to an Atheist to what i am now... an Antitheist. it's high time we stopped letting the superstitions of the uneducated dictate what our children learn!! i dont think other countries fully understand the situation in the US regarding religion... obviously some of the people around the world understand but it's not known as well as it should be, i think. it's scary repressive here.

I understand your point of view, nowdays americans suddenly became more "christian" than they were before (20-30 years ago). As this video shows, in 1955, the dollars didn't have "In God We Trust" on them. It seems like a regress not a evolution. I think that politicians nowadays try to manipulate americans by using "religion", butt most of them aren't real christians or religious people. In the country where I'm from, Romania, we have religion as a subject in our curriculum since elementary school to highschool, and they are not private schools, al public schools have it. However, we were never taught to believe that evolution doesn't exist or that Big Bang didn't happen or that the World is only 7000 old.So why are schools in America that don't have religion as a course in their curriculm be so fundamentalists in their religion and basically crazy? The answer is that they didn't learnt much about religion and are just spoonfeed outrageous lies and superstitions basically, without finding out for themselves. I really find these kind of people dangerous to society, ignorance is the deadliest weapon you can use against someone. Btw, in Romania in the Religion course we are taught mostly about christianity, but there are also times we learn about others religions like judaism, islamism, buddhaism etc, in order to keep an open mind and enrich our cultural knowledge.

The term has had a range of applications; in secular contexts, it typically refers to direct opposition to organized religion or to the belief in any deity..." in other words, most atheists i know dont announce that they dont believe in a diety and think that theism should be respected and is an ok thing. i (an antitheist) believe that theism is an immoral belief system that needs to be aggressively (though peacefully) criticized and attacked. tip: next time you try to be a 'grammar nazi', try to be correct.

Hey man, the stupidest group is the loudest. There are people like me, former atheists, who still enjoy watching these videos because we get to see that group in action. There are these people in atheism, and they're commonly known as "feminists", specifically the third-wave ones. You may think, what, reduce us to our lowest common denominator? That's exactly what you're doing to us. So, let's just all sit back and laugh at these people and their stupidity, because every group has those people.

My opinion on religion is that it was simply created out of humanity's ego. We long for validation of some sought. Something to make us feel more important than we actually are. Not to say life isn't amazing - it is. We must make it our own though. Even if a supernatural deity created the entire universe, what makes people think that he/she would prioritise Earth, out of all the other planets in the universe? Further more why would he/she prioritise Homo sapiens over all other forms of life on this planet? "god is a mirror in which man sees's himself" - Bono, U2 360 Live at the Rose Bowl

I am very nearsighted and I went for three weeks without my glasses to show as a sign of faith that I would be healed. well, I wasn't healed, and I was told by my pastor that I must not have believed that I was going to be healed. what I thought was that I must not have been important enough to God to take the time to heal me. and that was the beginning of my search for truth. I guess that would make me agnostic at this point.... but it doesn't make sense to me that there are so many religions and denominations.... a lot of them fight each other over doctrinal points .... but what they all have in common is that they all believe that their way is the only true way and everyone who doesn't agree will go to hell..... is it just me, or that's a terrible thing to believe about the people who have it "wrong"? sigh

Roberta Millett magical - endowed with special powers which operate outside the natural or physical world; superhuman; supernatural god - a magical anthropomorphic immortal God - the name by which the supreme magical anthropomorphic immortal is generally known in all of today's major monotheistic religions The question you really should be asking yourself is the question that theism asks: Do I believe (am I convinced) that an actual magical anthropomorphic immortal really exists? If your answer to that question is no, then you are an atheist. Gnostics claim to have "special knowledge" of the supernatural and/or of a specific deity. Some people try to simplistically argue that if you simply say "I don't know whether or not God exists," this makes you agnostic. Then they go on to argue, as Krathnic Elvan has done, that therefore everyone is agnostic since nothing can ever be known for certain. This is simply not the case. To be agnostic means that you do not consider it possible for mortals to have definite or special knowledge of the supernatural. Some people also try to simplistically argue that as an atheist, you are making the absolute claim that "God does not exist." Then they go on to argue that since no one can ever know anything for certain, no one can honestly claim to be an atheist. This too is simply not the case. Contrary to this popular argument, in order to be an atheist you do no have to claim to "know" that "God does not exist" (in the same way that gnostics claim to "know" that God does exist). An atheist is someone who has no reason to believe that an actual magical anthropomorphic immortal really exists. Since you have already stated your prior belief in a specific God (with a capital G, which very strongly indicates that you have been monotheistic all of your life and that you have put your belief in the "one and only God of the universe" and/or the God of a specific religion), all you really need to ask yourself is: Am I truly convinced (do I truly believe) that there is an actual God who really exists? (And also implied in that question is whether you believe that any of the magical anthropomorphic immortals, such as heroes, angels or devils, associated with that religion - whether or not you think of them as gods - really exist.) If you are not convinced, then you are an atheist.

Leonardo Fibonacci published a book named Libel Abaci in 1202. but his whole idea of the number sequence came from India. This was develop by the Hindus. So what does that mean, The Hindus's God is the Creator. Not the Christian God. Sad face. So i guest you better fall down on your knees and pray to the Hindu God "The Creator". Just a small hint before you do that The Creator name of the Hindus's is "Brahman" which is the one supreme, universal spirit.

YES Leonardo discovered this Fact! but how in the hell did you come up with hindu ism when they believe in hundreds of different gods & worship themselves. I think you miss understood me when I said he fibonacci sequence in NATURE? Again this has absolutely nothing to do with hindu. Ugh. Another video complaining about the presence of the phrase "under God" in our national loyalty oath. You know what? Instead of complaining about the exact wording of the loyalty oath, why aren't we asking why a free country has a loyalty oath at all? Why do we make schoolchildren chant this loyalty oath every day? It's like something out of an Orwell novel, and such a thing should not exist in a free country.
@explosiveegg3920
@explosiveegg3920 10 жыл бұрын
Philosophy is a weird thing... A country that constitutes freedom is not free on that very constitution. Essentially, to declare yourself free is in itself an act against the very definition of freedom. I do not think it is a bad thing to have an oath, if you are able to choose whether or not you want to give it. I do think it is bad to have suggestions of things that contradict the constitution. Such as, "under god".

jraposo I understand it fine. I am simply saying that you are complaining about the wrong thing. Masses of children chanting a loyalty oath each and every morning is something you expect from a dictatorship or a theocracy or an Orwell novel, not in a free country. The problem is not that the phrase "under God" is in our pledge, the problem is that we have a pledge at all.
