Better late than never, this one was a labor of love. I wanted to treat this like my past “movie” sequences since it’s nice to see Night Elves do something for once (even though the mission is kind of a fail). C'est la vie. Features the Darkshore Cinematic for extra context in between scenes. Enjoy! Also, this took about 5 weeks to put together coherently, mostly due to the fact this is the most buggy/glitchy PTR I’ve ever seen yet.

That is some top notch leadership and defending, she led the sentinels to free Illidan, led the sentinels to aid Maiev on the Broken Isles. She led the people when Malfurion was still asleep and still led the sentinels to awaken him. This Tyrande in WoW is... very different.

Tyrande isnt the Tactician, thats literally not part of her role and its poorly conveyed in OG War3 that shes not the Commander. youre actually Shandris Feathermoon in War3/Nightelves 1 campaign. She is a Warrior, as Warriors are not Soldiers, again lending credence to her being a shitty tactician. Shes actually probably the best hunter in the lore that we have evidence of being a hunter, and not just the Hunter Class. Shes also not a leader or High Priestess based on skill and diplomacy. thats what Malfurion has always served to her and was literally a major plotpoint IN Warcraft 3. Shes Leader and Figurehead as Elune's Oracle, in that her power within the Church of Elune is virtually incomparable. IIRC shes actually shown capitulating on the nature of faith to the Bishop of Stormwind, although calls Velen out on being a narrow minded ass several times, despite not having actual evidence of Elune's miracles to differentiate them from those able to be performed by the Naaru before Legion and the only known miracles performed by Elune upto the point of Legion being indestinct from the types performed by Naaru. Furthermore, Tyrande's power within the northern kalimdor Nightelves really comes from the fact that after the War of the Ancients, the Night Elves never really rebuilt their government or church in a way we would typically consider rebuilding from the ashes. What remained of the Church of Elune simply capitulated to Tyrande, because Tyrande was the highest ranking remaining member alive. Jarod "Victory Absolute" Shadowsong, the highest ranking member of the Sentinels after WotA, went and became a hermit for 10,000 years probably because he realized that he couldnt actually lead a peacetime civilization. Furthermore, the Quel'dorei were first cowed into submission by the Eternal Punishment of Illidan Stormrage, and later once what little bit of stability Feudalism offers was getting first re-established in the post-war devastation of their civilization, became lax and were exiled from northern Kalimdor. so Tyrande spent 10,000 years running basically the unholy bastard of a Clerical State Theocracy, a Peasants Republic, and a Despotic Monarchy. And she never learned diplomacy, instead favoring to use permanent imprisonment or exile.

Seriously though. I'm so sick and tired of Nathanos strutting around like he's a somebody. He's a pawn for Sylvanas, and even Delaryn should have roflstomped him with hilarious ease. That said, I'm also painfully tired of Anduin's cowardice and borderline treasonous treatment of his Allies. The Alliance needs a change of Leadership and the Horde needs to start taking massive casualties. You don't just escape a major offensive without causalities like the Horde are here. BFA has been the absolute worst xpac for me so far, and 8.1 looks like it could be the patch that finally pushes me away for good.

God it is bullshit that Nathanos lives at all. The writer that's practically made him his OC seriously needs to be taken off, his plot armour rivals the goddamn Titans. Tyrande and Malfurion are EASILY the most powerful faction leaders in one way or another and, before this expansion, barely involved themselves in the Horde/Alliance matters. They both have tens of thousands of years of combat experience after taking part in majority of the big world events, up to and including repelling an invasion of the Burning Legion led by Archimonde himself, TWICE, and all it cost them in the grand scheme of things fairly recently (20 years is nothing in the time frame of their lives) was their immortality. ONLY their immortality. They are the two characters that SHOULD be feared by every member of the Horde, with good reason considering Malfurion can wave his hand and bury them alive effortlessly, and Tyrande can practically cause a meteor shower. And yet this fucking Gary Stu has the balls to take them so lightly in a fight that he makes fun of them mid-fight... This motherfucker, that doesn't hold a candle to a favoured servant of the goddamn Lich King, fights off both Malfurion and Tyrande after she received a pretty fucking substantial buff from her goddess. If the writers wanted him to live that badly, he shouldn't have been involved in this at all. A different character should've been used here to run the operation. You don't just heavily empower a character like Tyrande after she had to watch her home burn, and let the fucker that's kicking them while they're down get away that easily, someone NEEDS to die, and gruesomely!

@@Krogdalo At best, Nathanos is a master tactician, so Sylvanas has him as her second because he can plan shit out greatly. Aside from that, no, there's pretty much nothing remarkable about him compared to other main characters. Which is what I was saying, any favoured servant of the Lich King would mop the floor would him. When Malfurion became active in WoW, it was pretty immediately throwing him into big world altering events, like fighting Ragnaros and such, and it only escalated from there. Malfurion made a habit of more or less soloing things that took armies, Druid or otherwise, to take down. And Tyrande is realistically no different. Her methods are different from Malfurion, but she can (and has on several occasions) taken out hordes of undead, demons and worse, in quick succession just with a simple starfall. And that's without being powered way the hell up by her goddess. So there is no logical reason at all that he not only gets away alive, but holds his own in the fight against both of them. Malfurion solo'd Sylvanas and Saurfang leading up to the goddamn expansion, now they're practically saying Nathanos is a league above them!

I get that there’s fighting in Arathi and Zandalar, but the Draenei, Gnomes, Dwarves, Worgen, Void Elves, etc. must still have forces around that can come and assist. Velen stands there and does nothing, who knows what Alleria and Turalyon are doing. It just all feels like bad writing.

The light have been compromised. You just don't allow darkness a upper hand like Alliance have opened their doors for, through humans. With the blessing of our prime champions of light, that have clearly succumbed to darkness. Velen and Turalyon probably not fully aware yet, being in the process. Alleria is the Alliance's equivalent to Sylvanas and she does the same to Alliance as Sylvanas does to horde. The future of wow is looking very dark unless both Alliance and Horde wake up. Even orcs should know better than to let this happen. Goblins and Belves likely just don't think that far and just see it as a means of profit. Funny to realize that an orc's honor triumph a belf's lack of conscience.

Yes of course. And the grim situation that everything is in will be at this status quo where evil reign unhindered and horde have won the war. All they have left to take is Moonglade. It is as if though devs are trying to give Kalimdor to Horde and EK to Alliance. Reality is that at this point Tyrande could take a stroll through Ashenvale and wipe out every single villain there, but instead we will have this status quo of Darkshore to prove the favor toward horde and their victory in the war where they have only gained and alliance have only lost.

Yeah... that guy that single handedly forced the whole legion to retrive for a moment while killing thousnads of demones with one big storm, now cant deal with one undead ranger and 2 Valkyr? Malfurion (and now even Tyrande) are besicaly gods. There is just too much of power difference between these demi-gods characters with some supernatural abilities like Malfurion, Tyrande, Jaina, Thrall, Sylvanas, Velen, Magni, Khadgar, Medivh... and the rest, who are besically just regular people (well trained and on steroides, but still just people). I honestly have no idea, how can be alliance loosing this war... ok, Khadgar, Magni and Velen are hippie, they will not fight. Medivh and Thrall are afk... But Malfurion can destroy one horde army just with one big storm, Jaina can destroy one horde army with flying laser ship oe few water elementals as she wanted to do with Ogrimar, Tyrande can destroy one horde army with few starfalls... and its over. There is noone on the horde side, who is willing to fight and who could stop them... even if Thrall came back from his smoke break, he would probably support Saurfang.

Honestly, this wasn't too bad in my opinion, but I do have my gripes. Most of them have already been stated in some of the other comments like "How the hell did Nathanos just survive a fight with the Night Warrior and the most powerful Archdruid there is?" My main issue with this is, once again, the horde get out with minimal....if almost no loss what so ever. We know Sylvanas only has a few val'kyr but (unless it was stated somewhere that I don't know about) we don't exactly know how many. The loss of just one doesn't have the impact Blizzard might be thinking it would. Unless that was one of the last two, I just don't think that really made much of a difference. Heck, the horde just got a rather equivalent exchange AGAIN out of a situation they shouldn't have. They got Delaryn (Who would be able to identify and help counter most of the Night elf strategies) and Sira (Which means the Horde now has access to probably most if not all of the Wardens' vaults like Cordana with the Legion.) Additionally, adding onto the horde's newest recruits....Sira I can kinda understand given the dialogue earlier, but Delaryn joining the Horde makes little sense to me. This would have been the equivalent of Sylvanas willingly joining Arthas because the Sunwell didn't help her in that fight. Delaryn can forsake Elune, but joining the psychopath that just burned down her home with thousands in it RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER.....*Sighs*

Finally, some development for the Night Elves. They're starting to look like their Warcraft 3 counterparts, which is great, in my opinion. Also, I've seen people upset about how Nathanos, assisted by the Val'kyr, holds his ground against the Alliance hero and Tyrande. ***SPOILERS AHEAD*** This situation is mirrored in a Horde mission. Blademaster Telaamon(a nobody in terms of lore importance) defeats Rokhan (the most important living Darkspear Troll at the moment and among the founding members of Orgrimmar) and the Horde hero is sent to save him. The Horde hero fights and defeats Telaamon *while* he's still using his power to prevent Rokhan and the nearby trolls from moving.

@@Gyratus, sorry, how is Rokhan young? Rokhan was there when Rexxar and Thrall fought Admiral Proudmoore, back in Warcraft 3. Are you sure you're not referring to Zekhan, AKA Zappy Boy? Also, the most crucial aspect is that he is the current leader of the Darkspear Trolls. One of the most important races of the Horde. And he gets clapped by a character that has NO background whatsoever. The equivalent to this situation would be Tyrande herself losing to one of Sylvanas's Val'kyr in straight fight. Nathanos isn't a nobody. In Legion, he fought Greymane and had the upper hand. When Sylvanas fought Greymane in Stormheim, Greymane outsmarted her and that lead to her defeat, since he managed to prevent her from obtaining immortality. I play both factions and I love them. However, my main will always be on the Alliance side. I just love their background more. But come on, there's too much of a victim mentality going on in the community right now, on both sides. Sylvanas burns Teldrassil? "Alliance bias. Blizzard wants us to be the bad guys again!" Tyrande doesn't defeat Nathanos? "Horde bias, she should completely destroy him!" In conclusion, taking down one of Sylvanas's Val'kyr is a huge deal and it is a continuation of Greymane's victory in Stormheim. Sylvanas is slowly dying as a direct result and she is running out of options.

I played on both Alliance and Horde in my life (wrath til begging of mop for alliance, mop til present day with horde) and let me just say that damnnn shorty everyone getting really bad lore. It's funny because I love both Nelves since I started with them but I also love Forsaken because that's what I currently play and I feel bad for BOTH Tyrande and Sylvanas. In my opinion Tyrande has an... Okay voice actor, but all of her lines are so focused on making sure NO ONE forgets for a second that her and Elune are a thing and that she is indeed a Night Elf. Like there's not a comment she makes that doesn't sound like a basic ass bread and butter "queen of elf people with obvious Wiccan (or paganism, if you really wanna go there I guess) analogy". Aaaand the cherry on top of this is that she is actually weak powered!! Nathanos is not like other Forsaken (sylv did some weird ritual thing to him in a short story a few months back or something) and even though I love Nathanos Tryande should've been able to take him, even it meant she was like injured it still would have been better than him getting away. It would've been a nice twist if she kept him as a hostage and the Nelves out of anger tortured him but since their magic is nature and whatnot he would start looking alive again despite being in pain. That's just something I made up on the top of my head and was already way better than what we see here imo. Oh and don't get me started at the Horde's fighting dialogue either. If you're saying, 'Hey KZbin Commenter, that's a bit harsh' here's an example of Blizzard doing it right /watch?v=lQRJyleSvhc . This is what I mean. Blizzard has lost it's touch with "show, don't tell" which is one of the most crucial part of story telling and writing fiction in general. I feel like Blizzard underestimated their fanbase intelligence and so they lowered their own standard to make it easier for their fans to digest but instead it has just frustrated all of us.
