Cairgngorms National Park is beautiful. The trails are inviting. I can relate to how you feel Harvey. It draws you in, wanting more, like a book you don't want to put down. I love the peaceful feeling that comes over me when watching your videos. Enjoyed seeing Aife watching the ducks, & saying bye bye. She's so precious! Really was good seeing you Athena, Harvey, & Aife! 🍀Happy🍀St. Patricks🍀Day!🍀

The West coast of Scotland is dramatically beautiful with it's sharp peaks, sea lochs, beautiful beaches & islands. But there is a magic about the Cairngorms that draws me back again & again. I would move to the Aviemore/Nethy Bridge/Boat of Garten area except I would miss my daughters too much & maybe I'm just not brave enough. You could never tire of the Rothiemurchus, Green Loch or the magnificent mountains. Aife gets more adorable with every video. Take care guys x

West is wetter and has more midges so when we moved up from Cumbria a year ago we knew we wanted to be further east. We originally looked at the area around Aviemore but prices were silly as there is competition with the holiday and second home market. We are now happily settled in Pitlochry- a variety of walks, cycles and wild swimming on the doorstep plus good transport links. Does have similar housing problems and like the other tourist areas prices in pubs etc are high but not as high as in the Lakes.

@@gcsScotland Love Pitlochry & Blair Atholl too. Was up Ben Vrackie a couple of years ago - amazing views. Glen Tilt is fabulous too. I'm just the other side of the Pennines from the Lakes & walk there loads in the Summer. Must have been a wrench to leave there but you have moved to a fabulous location. I wish you happiness in Scotland.

Had a great 35 years down there but my wife wanted to return to Scotland and I love the Scottish mountains having explored them for years. It’s been a great first year and haven’t regretted the move at all. So much on the doorstep and places that were 5 - 7 hours away are now much more accessible.

I couldn’t agree more Michael, the granite landscapes of the cairngorm plateau are very special indeed! Like you, family is a massive consideration for us and I’m sure this will be an evolving conversation, but definitely a conversation to be had!

I lived in the Cairngorms for 2 years during my early 20's working on a small farm. I'd love to move back when we have finished travelling in the van. It's magical. The West coast gets all the praise but after a year on the Isle of Mull the Cairngorms still sings to me over anywhere else. Perhaps it's because it feels more wild, less dramatic but it gives me the same wilderness feeling as Dartmoor in a way. Enjoy ☺️

Aww living on a farm in the Cairngorms must of been an amazing experience! I wonder if Dartmoor and the Cairngorms gave a similiar feeling because they are both granite landscapes?

I just watched "Should We Move Here?! // Hiking in the Cairngorms" and I have to say, it looks like an incredible place to visit. The scenery is breathtaking and the hiking trails seem like a great way to experience the natural beauty of the area. I'm not sure if I would move there permanently, but I would definitely love to visit and explore the Cairngorms further. Overall, this video was both informative and inspiring, and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in hiking or nature.

There are good opening shots and there are great opening shots. These opening shots were fantastic. I certainly have experienced that early morning, stillness in remote places while on holiday and Harvey’s videography and commentary, not only set the scene, but gave a deep appreciation of the wonderful situation. Oh, and how many times have I been on holiday to similar places I thought I’d love to move there. I usually start looking for properties for sale until I realise that it probably isn’t gonna happen. I always keep in mind, the fact that visiting a location for a short break, it’s not the same as living there, right through all the seasons, especially the winter. There again, sometimes you have to bite the bullet and just get on with it. Is Harvey taking bookings for his juggling a toddler act? It’s quite entertaining.

Its hard in the toddler period for you all to get what you need from adventures - emotionally, physically and financially (because this is also your job as well as your hobby after all). Especially because you are running the channel and that put pressure on you to do a certain kind of 'walk' or 'trip' which may not fit in with young kids. Be easy on yourselves. Remember to give yourselves time and space to do the things you love - even if that means a little bit of solo time. At some point Aife wont want to be in the carrier at all and then a whole new pace will emerge - which I think is what you're saying - it will take a bit of juggling to find how to balance the channel and the needs of your family. If there are places you can go which have good paths - we found a yippeyo cross buggy a good option as my daughter has mobility issues and couldn't walk far at all for a long time. it was easy to hop in and out of which felt less trapping for her, as she also didn't like to be held or be in a carrier. But it is very similar to what you already have in the bike/buggy trailer so may not really be useful to you. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful place.
@harvey123go4
@harvey123go4 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Cori for the advice! Yes good trails for the buggy is a grand idea. As with everything we’ll just have to see what happens when we get there.. all the best laid plans seem to go straight out the window! All the best and thanks for watching!
