To have won 83 of a possible 88 races at the international level is something that's unheard of, especially in the golden age of middle distance running. Morocco has produced Nawal El Moutawakel, Said Aouita, Mustapha Hadji, Badr Hari & many others who've excelled in their respective sports but make no mistake that Hicham El Guerrouj is simply the greatest athlete to have come out of Morocco. Amazing career.

richard stevens Sebastian Coe Greatest middle distance runner of all time. Only man to retain Olympic 1500m title 1980/1984. (12 world records) Only man ever to hold 800m, 1000m, 1500m and mile world records at same time. Fastest finish in 800m championships 11.3 last 100m and fastest finish 12.1 1500m Moscow. Versatile runner from 400m 45.5 relay leg to 5000m and cross country. So exciting runner to watch finish and blow the others away in last 100m. Had illness in 1982/83 with toxoplasmosis, but still came back to win gold again in 1984. Coe’s the best ever to do all this. To be best middle distance runner you must excel at 800m & 1500m and mile. 5000m is long distance race and not middle distance.

I respect ur love to Sebastian Coe, but you cannot just ignore the world record holder just like that! haha I'm sorry but u have to accept it! now El Guerrouj is the World Record holder for 1500m and the mile and for 2000m and Outdoor as Indoor as well :) and he is the only man since 1924 to win olympic gold medal in 1500m and 5000m in the same olympic games!

At 12:06, slow speed down to 0.25, why does it look like he intentionally threw his leg to the outside in order to trip him up, even if he brushed his leg on El Guerrouj's during the kick back it shouldn't be thrown out to the side that way..
@matthewcarolan3461
@matthewcarolan3461 3 жыл бұрын
I watched it back. There was no ill intent. It started when Guerrouj accidentally tapped his leg and cause him to go off balance and clip his other leg. He had to step out to the side to balance himself so he wouldnt fall. It was just a running accident and no one is to blame (and if it was someones fault I would have to say it was El Guerruijs because he was the one that caused the first contact.)
