I have been going back k and forth between deciding on staying at the Athens gate hotel or an apartment with a gorgeous terrace and view of the acropolis. My family is worried since I am traveling solo that an apartment won’t be safe. any advice?

Hi ! Airbnb's tend to have more burglary stories than hotels. Plus, Greeks do not support the Airbnb model because it drives up the prices of our rents dramatically. So I'd go for Athens Gate Hotel :-D

No, ATVs are for 2 ppl max. Maybe a rental company will accept you take the kid onboard, but the police could stop you.

Stay in the center ! The first metro to the airport is around 6am and then 1 every half hour. Takes 40min to reach the airport. The exact timetables can be found here : stasy.gr/en/timetables/line-3/

Hi Sebastian! I’ll have a layover in athens airport for around 24 hours from Sunday evening to Monday evening, I’m planning to rent a car and go ether to athens city center or go somewhere costal, what would you do? Is there a beach or town by the coast that is gorges enough to not go to athens?

If you've never been to Athens, definitely take the metro and go and visit the Acropolis. If this is your second time, yes you can rent a car and drive down to the beaches in the area of Sounio.

Hi Sebastian. Thank you for responding to my message. Appreciate all your great travel tips. We think we would like to stay in Makrygianni. So we are looking at the Cosy, Luminous and Cosy Apt at 39 Λεωφόρος Ανδρέα Συγγρού, Athens City Centre, Athens, 11743, Greece. Also there is a couple other apartments there as well. Loft 3 is at Athens View Loft 3. The address is 25 Aristonikou str., Kallimarmaro, Athens, 11636, Greece. We are trying to work out the pros and cons between the Loft 3 and the other apartments. I believe Loft 3 is a little further away from the Acropolis. It does look lovely. Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thank you Rebecca (Australia).

Sebastian, I'm working my way through your wonderful videos to plan and prepare for an upcoming trip. THANK YOU! I have a question regarding the hotels that are more like apartment buildings. Is it customary for them to have a "front desk" that you check in at? I'm concerned about a late night arrival and potential difficulty getting into our room.

The vast majority of hotels have a front desk yes. If you book an airbnb then of course its different.

Almost no apartment buildings have a front desk, they have key boxes or code entrance . They also have no luggage storage , no cleaning or any other service you would expect in a hotel To distinguish a hotel from an appartment building on Booking you will see all licensed hotels are rated with stars based on a universal system and standards. Non licensed and not professional hosts (meaning apartment buildings and of course airbnbs, villas , single apartments etc ) may have bullets but this is based on self evaluation so there is no actual standard Whatever you choose make sure they have enough legitimate reviews to see how the other guests rated it I'm sure the reviews will also mention whether it has front desk or not

I stay at Athensotel, which is awesome. Great places to eat and get drinks, a shitload of beautiful women, what's not to like
