Nafplio was once in 19th century after the uprising against the ottoman empire the capital of Greece before Athens .I would also love to suggest Monemvasia the soutest place of Peloponese a magical place that definitely worth visiting

Indeed Nafplio as the former capital of Greece managed to develop in a very few years as one of the best looking cities in Greece with lots of Neoclassical buildings with no anarchy building. I can compare it only with the capital of the island of Syros which had also a big part of Catholic population. One of my three favourite composers in modern Greece was born there Markos Vamvakaris. He was also song writer singer and bouzouki player It’s a pity actually that you didn’t visit an Italian owned gelaterie there. Every time I have gone to Nafplio I went by it and ate ice cream even in the winter. It’s probably the best gelato made in Greece. By the way Syros and Tinos although in the Cyclades as Mykonos and Santorini are the less touristy popular destinations but boy they should be visited as they are very beautiful destinations with much more sightseeing and have some unique villages to see. Also the tavernas are very rich with great local food recipes and extremely VFM. If you visit Tinos aside of the Virgin Mary church where there is a major celebration every 15th of August and people from all over Greece flock there on the top of the city don’t skip to visit the village of Ano Ysternia and search for the church of St Catherine. It has a huge alley in the front and you overlook all the Aegean sea to its west part. Spectacular view!!! Best in all of Cyclades!!! As for the interior it’s completely sculpted marble and also the priest pulpit is overhead the congregation with the whole structure made out of sculpted marble (stair column of the stair and the balcony). I have personally named this unique church as little Parthenon. Αlso don't miss to visit the nearby village of Pyrgos where a series of Greek sculptors were born raised there and have produced thousands of artistic sculptures. The most famous was Giannoulis Halepas. The most famous art of work of his lies in the First Cemetery of Athens and is named Sleeping beauty. His house turned to s museum which you can visit.

Nafplio is so nice, I usually go to Dimitsana and Vytina after Nafplio when I do day trips with tourists, I'd be glad to give you recommendations for trips in the mainland, there are some gorgeous areas such as Meteora and Zagorochoria, you definitely have to go there!

Actually Zagori region's scenery (Zagorochoria are mountainous villages in the area) is stunning; bridges, a canyon, rivers, high mountains, hiking trails and spectacular viewpoints are all over the place! Local food is awesome too. Some tour agencies (I can name some of them) offer two days trips by bus and they're really really cheap. Take also a look at Metsovo and Ioannina (Ioannina is one of the most beautiful cities in Greece). I do two day trips as well and I'm familiar with those places, if you want I can give you my contact info and provide you any necessary info anyway Dimitris

Great video. I love Nafplio. Its actually less than 999 steps. I think its in the low 800's. It just sounds better when they say 999. But, is great that you made it to the top. What language do you speak with each other? Is it Swedish or Norwegian? They are different languages you have said

Hi!😃 We think the easiest way to get from Syntagma to Ktel Kifisou bus terminal is with taxi. Otherwise you can take the blue metro line to Eleonas and then change to bus 052 and get off at St. Yper. Leof. Kifisou😊
