Some/ many times you have to trust proffesional salesmen and -women especially regarding shoes. This doesn´t mean that you don´t know your own feet but they know more about shoes (most of the time). Just because people function differently doesn´t mean that they are (in someone´s eyes) this or that!Being a son of one of the best shoemakers (in the upper class of women´s shoes) I have seen a lot! But...carry on and, so long as your pleasure is living in grater Athens, to informe the world 😀 (including Greeks) about all those things that make your daily life στην Ελλαδα, sweet or less sweet😉 I know it is difficult but I wish you a long lasting happy life in mama Hellas😊

Hello ladies. We came across your video today and we loved it. Very entertaining indeed. We are Greek/Finnish couple (but also lived in Sweden) Met 38 years ago in Greece and living in Australia now. Going to Greece again in April One of the best things we love about out time together is about learning and connecting about each other’s culture. Question I have is…what is your favourite holiday or festival in Sweden, Norway or Greece? I love the Lucia tradition. Have a nice day and don’t forget to give us a shout out here in Melbourne 👍

For the water celebration (Theophany, equivalent to Catholic Epiphany), see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theophany. The priest throws the cross into a water body (sea, river, lake, fountain) to bless the water, and young boys try to get it. The winner goes around the neighbourhood with the priest and enters every house. The priest blesses the house, and the winner gets tips or presents.

Liver paste and oil (Torskleverolja?) are very rich in Vitamin A and D, in Greece you get more D from the Sun and A from normal Liver-dishes, or smaller amounts from Spanakopita, Chorta and other greens and vegetables. However, a big part of Greece is forest and mountains and people worked a lot in the dark forests, thats why in such areas Liver and Kokoretsi is very popular. In modern times we are most of the time inside and fast food is popular, lack of Vitamin D and A is more and more an issue also in Southern Europe, so keep importing this Liverpastei, Stabburet for Stubborn (Greeks).👌🏻

Epiphany (/əˈpɪfəni/ ə-PIF-ə-nee), also known as "Theophany" in Eastern Christian tradition, is a Christian feast day commemorating the visit of the Magi, the baptism of Jesus, and the wedding at Cana. Blessing of Waters: The Orthodox Churches perform the Great Blessing of Waters on Theophany.[78] The blessing is normally done twice: once on the Eve of the Feast - usually at a Baptismal font inside the church - and then again on the day of the feast, outdoors at a body of water. Following the Divine Liturgy, the clergy and people go in a Crucession (procession with the cross) to the nearest body of water, be it a beach, harbor, quay, river, lake, swimming pool, water depot, etc. (ideally, it should be a body of "living water"). At the end of the ceremony the priest will bless the waters. In the Greek practice, he does this by casting a cross into the water. If swimming is feasible on the spot, any number of volunteers may try to recover the cross. The person who gets the cross first swims back and returns it to the priest, who then delivers a special blessing to the swimmer and their household. Certain such ceremonies have achieved particular prominence, such as the one held annually at Tarpon Springs, Florida. In Russia, where the winters are severe, a hole will be cut into the ice so that the waters may be blessed. In such conditions, the cross is not cast into the water, but is held securely by the priest and dipped three times into the water. Etymology The word Epiphany is from Koine Greek ἐπιφάνεια, epipháneia, meaning manifestation or appearance. It is derived from the verb φαίνειν, phainein, meaning ‘to appear’.[26] In classical Greek it was used for the appearance of dawn, of an enemy in war, but especially of a manifestation of a deity to a worshipper (a theophany). In the Septuagint the word is used of a manifestation of the God of Israel (2 Maccabees 15:27).[27] In the New Testament the word is used in 2 Timothy 1:10 to refer either to the birth of Christ or to his appearance after his resurrection, and five times to refer to his Second Coming.[27] Alternative names for the feast in Greek include τα Θεοφάνια, ta Theophánia, ‘Theophany’ (a neuter plural rather than feminine singular), η Ημέρα των Φώτων, i Iméra ton Fóton (modern Greek pronunciation), ‘The Day of the Lights’, and τα Φώτα, ta Fóta, ‘The Lights’.[28] In Egypt, it is called Eid al-Ghitas (Arabic: عيد الغِطاس).[29] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epiphany_(holiday)

Ouzo has anise, that gives it the taste it has and when water is added, it turns white. As far as I am concerned I don't particularly like the taste of it with water so I prefer to drink it straight if I am with company that drinks it. I prefer to drink beer my self. One thing you must know is that if you drink Ouzo with the appetizer and then drink beer with the main course it's OK. However if you drink beer first, drinking Ouzo afterwards is a very bad combination that will get some one very drunk and it should never be tried.

Theophany is a major annual Christian feast of the Baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. It is celebrated on January 6 and is the third and final feast of the Twelve Days (Christmas holidays). The name derives from the manifestation of the three persons of the Holy Trinity that occurred according to three relevant gospel passages. The feast of Theophany is also called Epiphany. The Priest throws the cross into the water and the young people try to catch it first, to receive the Priest's blessing. The celebration was established in the 2nd century and because the Orthodox church has not changed since then, we keep this tradition.

Books about Mummintrollet by Tove Jansson are my favorite from childhood 🥰 When I was in Finland I brought some statues of Mummi 🤗 And glühwein we do at home too in winter time. Cheers! 🍷🥂 I should say, knowing their culture, cookies name kurabie came from Caucasus. In Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia they do cookies called so and in Arabic countries, as Iran for exmpl. What about Saffron, in other countries it's very expensive spice. 1st time I see smbd do a cake from it 😯 But maybe in Greece this spice isn't so rare.
