This was 9am in the morning, and the 80k seater stadium looks about 95% full for a heptathlon event. Great turnout and atmosphere for Ennis-Hill.

I was there and yes the stadium was pretty full. Half way through the session it started pouring with rain, I just put on my waterproofs wasnt going to miss anything of my day at the Olympics

I love that normally there’s hardly anyone in the stadium to watch the first heptathlon event. Her coach told her right before she walked out “80,000 of your friends are here today”

That's what a 'real' Olympics sounds like as the home crowd hysterically cheer their gladiators!

So much awesomeness in that last heat - a WHB of 12.54s (by 8 hundredths!); second place under the preceding OHB, 12.70s for third place, five under 13s...and a British record for Ennis (at the time). As for the field in general...29 scored 1000+ points in this particular discipline, which is also impressive.

Tessa sanderson. Fatima whitbread. Denise Lewis. Jessica Ennis. Now katerina Johnson Thompson is added to this historical list of british champions in the heptathlon. So so proud to be British today.

Katerina Bragin it really just depends on the athlete. When you do 100m hurdles, most women do 7 steps do the first hurdle. this can make it easier for an athlete who may need more room for their strides. but yeah, it really just depends on the athlete, everyone sets their blocks differently

I Would say bc of her size and young age. at this point, I think they pegged her better for this. clearly she is doing great things as a sprinter now.
