i love how they preserve these vehicles of the past, but back then their milage rate is very low so some restoration channels find these vehicles hid in forests or locked away in garages because the previous owner of the vehicle couldn't repair it, these days most antique cars have modified modern engines since the old engines cannot replaced, so the body is what is preserved because they were made of pure steel, while our modern car bodies are made of plastic. great video! :)

Actully, it's a swamp cooler add-on that you could mount in the window of just about any car or truck at the time. Load the thing with ice and water, get to about 30mph, and pull the starter cord to get the little turbine spinning. Voila'! Cold wet air in your vehicle. Great for dry climates.

Good lord what memories,, I must first say the best units I saw had to have been all of the Dalton Trucking vehicles , Very nice, very original . I started as a wash boy at a trucking company when I was just a kid but I knew every inch of a lot of different tractors. The owner of the company was a bit of a collector as well as nostalgic . He took the oldest units of the companie and restored them like new, A 1966 COE White Freightliner with a straight 318 detroit diesel, A White 4000 day cab and the year was about 69 I think. The white still have the "velvet ride suspension " which I can tell you was far from velvet as you could get and a 180 Hp or 220 Hp cummins w/ compression release. A Diamond Reo tandem axle dump truck about 1950ish. A international R190 dump truck w/ the rd450 engine and splitter rear axle,, I haul tons of gravel with both those trucks in the earlier 1990s putting new base/ gravel into the lot of the compaine. A 49 pick up and 40 pick up . Still more but those were the major units. Thanks for the video, Great seeing so many of the tractors I remember so well.

There's a few things in here I've worked on. The electric truck wagon thing (that's my cousin driving) I believe was used to move huge rolls of paper for a newspaper company. The Futureliner (they called it the Junkliner) is set on a garbage truck chassis but it was a real Futureliner. It sold a while ago. By far the best thing in here I've worked on is Dennis Wells' 1970 289 at 26:31. It has a 400 big cam and a 13 speed, we used it to haul my '52 GMC fire engine home last year.

@nickelvan6 жыл бұрын
I believe that is not a replica, I found this info on wikipedia, Displayed the “World of Science” exhibit; also displayed the “Versatile Metal Powder” exhibit. Purchased by Brad Boyajian in 2002, Boyajian said he believes that the Futurliner that he converted into a car hauler is No. 5. That Futurliner’s rear axle and body section went with Futurliner No. 8 to Sweden, and its front axle went to the NATMUS Futurliner No. 10 restoration project.
@AIRDRAC6 жыл бұрын
Nickel Vanner the futureliner has the engine in the rear, and has dually wheels both front and rear, so I'm pretty sure it's just made to look like it :)
@nickelvan6 жыл бұрын
I caught that too but it noted that he sold the front and rear axles along with the rear body section, so it would be on a modified frame. I have a close friend in Iowa that just bought Bus #3, the one that Kindig-It restored in 2014. He is hoping to bring it to Goodguys in Des Moines IA this month. He knows a lot of history on these, I will ask him about it.

Forward of the right front tires is a door for the stairs to the cab. Driver and two passengers.The left door is the engine.
